Speculation over cladding

  1. Where did I say you don't care?

And why do you think the quickfire announcements of Public Inquiries and £5m of aid have been made? Because the government can see that the locals are angry enough to vent their concerns and opinions, regardless of how they come across to the more educated in society.

Good idea, we could pull a number out of a hat for the numbers of casualties then when it turned out not to be correct and distressing to people involved it can siezed on to stir up more trouble, I think the confirmed casualties likley to rise is the way to go, I am absalutly fed up with the Corbynites siezing political advantage out of every situation, really bad taste, it will be balaclaves and throwing stones at our "hero" emergency services next, The reasons that Corbyn can visit and not be attacked is the fact that Conservative supporters don't cover their faces and throw bottles.

  3. the politicians, council, management company keep their distance and don't want to get personally involved. the locals are the ones who show real and genuine support and provide practical aid without being asked and dip into their own pockets. Praise to them.

sure, the government can come up with money which is needed but they won't be the ones to get in there and spend it.

politicians from all sides have become detached from the people and these bad events show that up.

regarding the actual number of dead in the building, its obvious it will take some time and the last thing we want now is for the firemen to be at further risk to them.

we don't live next to the building but if we did we would be upset and personally affected and angry.

I think the Queen going down there was a personal act showing support and listening to what people were saying. The likes of May and Corbyn could never offer that kind of personal support.

May now looks cold and distant.

May IS cold and distant but don't let that cloud the issue. Fact is it's a while since this sort of thing has happened and let's hope it changes the regulations.

I don't know how many of you have lived on a council estate but I can assure you that growing up and living on one in the 70 s was great fun but more important it felt safe, our blocks were made of thick concrete walls, steel stairways and steel windows, when the Webb families flat burnt out on the 4th floor of our block no other flat was damaged,

Really and what TV or other images have shown Labour supporters covering their faces and throwing bottles? Did their face covers show a picture of Mr Corbyn or some other readily, identifiable feature?
If you're referring to Mrs May hastily leaving a Church by the side door once local people knew she was there, it says more for her reluctance to speak to the people who are affected, at the scene - contrast that with Mr Corbyn's and indeed with Her Majesty's and Prince William's approach - all more than happy to meet and speak with local people at the scene of the tragedy, not a few hand picked people at No 10.
It seems no one is able to program the Maybot to speak with 'ordinary' people, she shows a total lack of empathy or indeed compassion, not just on this occasion but think back to Amber Rudd 'representing' her at the 7 way televised debate, just 48 hours after her father, Tony had died.

    Or the short answer:
No they don't, they stab you in the back, just like the Govinator.

How did this get political, can't we just all come together on this one.
Lots of people have no homes left and others have died, lets not lose sight of that.

I think the people rioting have already lost sight and turned it political.

Strange but my sympathy is now dwindling for them.

Answers aren't going to be straight away. Knowing total no. dead isn't going to be known straight away.

My sympathy for those effected won't dwindle. My sympathy for those who just decide to get involved So they can have a bit of a ruck, will always be contemptible.

Let's leave our political views out of this just for once , the people at the town hall are scum,we don't need to stoop so low, children just like ours were burnt alive, I'm a big, bald, fat man who cried, not just tears in my eyes but proper bawling while watching the events unfold on the television,

I think it would seem that the angers lies at the fact so many people died and the survivors were left with nothing. This has been exacerbated by the apparent lack of a central information point. How many of us, in our every day lives, under much less difficult circumstances, get wound up by lack of community or information, be it in the work place, hospital, school etc? From reading the news it would appear that the locals are being kept in the dark. Fair enough, exact numbers of casualties will be hard to ascertain at the moment, and maybe even forever, but constant communication and inclusion of those affected would help to distill the anger, anxiety, fear and feeling of not counting amongst the residents etc of Grenfell.

i think that at the moment regardless of cause rent-a-left-wing mob turn up when an attack on the tories is required , as the telegraph said.
the other thing is that officialdom is geared up for all kinds of disaster be it terrorist attack or a mass pile up on the m25 however as the fire chief this is a once in a life time event which we weren,t prepared for and we were slow on the uptake ( the last time we had a real event like this was ww2) hopefully the officials can get there backsides in gear now

  15. I'd agree entirely people need to come together to help those in need but I'm afraid I see some anger creeping in even on here. Politicians and others are damned if they do damned if they dont. Unfortunately in this social media driven society everyone wants to scrutinise everything a person does. You just have to watch any 'event' people are more interested in recording on their phones so they can make some capital from it later.

  17. As above I've worked on student accommodation, all be it timber framed internally, the outside has vertical and horizontal fire break at each floor corners and movement joints , but still has cladding of similar construction. (As do most flats near me )

  18. so Philip Hammond has claimed that the type of cladding used, is banned in Britain. If that is true and it comes out in the enquiry then that would be damning. A lot of other stuff about the Kensington council is now coming out regarding financial irregularities and harsh cost cutting and amassing a surplus in funds and then using some of the surplus to give back to the rich council tax payers.

As much as we seem to be knocking the press and especially the Daily Mail, it is the press who find out stuff and expose dodgy councils and their councillors and other dodgy organisations.

this terrible fire has opened up a big can of worms and we hope the enquiry is honest and thorough and may the press continue to expose these dodgy people and their organisations.

they will have their chance to respond to accusations coming their way.
