As perhaps was predicted, the con rods won't be ready til the weekend.

 

A few more pics - nothing really exciting.

 

The machine shop buggered up one of the small end bushes when reaming so still no short block .

 

I am determined that whatever the VW gods throw at me, tomorrow, I will get the short block complete.

 

don't go making a mess in your engine build room, I only tided it up the other day ;D

Hoping to pop up tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much you get done

 

Something else a bit boring - I got my alternator tested & refurbed.



It had:-

2 x new bearings
New bearing plate
New regulator
New brush box
New through bolts
Service inside and out

 

Ah, that's something I've not had a look at, but was worried about before i dropped the engine. Do you mind me asking (again) where you got that done and an idea of price?

Has it been painted too?

 

Short block complete! Bar some pain in the arse user errors, everything went fine. Torqued up and ready for barrels and pistons when the heads are ready.

 

I had fun and games with Plastiguage tonight.... don't anticipate trying to do that again!!

 

The barrells and pistons are on, and the heads should be ready for collection today - hopefully the long block will be complete this weekend.

 

Reckon this is a race... heads back on Tuesday, short block today...
