Silly questions you're afraid to ask about your bay

  5. Help, I've been stupid, I've come away without my manual and my oil level is on the min, I can get some 15/40 mineral oil from the local garage but I'm not 100 % where the filler is ??

  8. I'm removing my steering wheel today, need to borrow a socket from work to do it, any idea what size it is? '78 Lhd Yankee import!

  12. What the hell is the point, (sic), of all these different coils, dizzys and spark leads...

    Do they really make a difference and do you have to buy the whole kit if you change from stock.

    Finally, does electronic ignition really make that much of a difference if the points are adjusted correctly anyway?

  14. ^^^ yeah that's why I put it on this thread and not on one of it's own as I didn't want the 'don't be an idiot' backlash. Thought if I put it here it might sneak through as an idiot question ;)

    i struggle wth coils tbh , i can see how they can be made more efficient but can't see how they boost power , i'm not saying they can't i just don't see how .
     
  16. That's exactly my problem.

    I can see electric ignition being more efficient and you never have to re-tune your points.
    I can see how a coil can be made more efficient
    I can see how a better dizzy and leads can help with more efficient sparking etc

    But, I drive a 34 year old VW campervan. As long as the van is regularly serviced and it runs then surely all this new fangled equipment doesn't really make too much of a difference from stock and is just a bit of overkill?

  20. Why have i just sat in it with a smoke and beer admiring my new cheapo interior lights and when i stepped out i got a shock there wasent a fire basket and woody shouting chuffin ell?
