Silly questions you're afraid to ask about your bay

Well you could always remove the offending drum and see if there is a rubbing witness mark on the inner edge of the backplate. If there is then gently wallop the backplate at that point just to bend it away very very slightly. Sounds very crude I know but it works. )

Okay, here we go. It is just below the parcel shelf on the passenger side...




Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is maybe it's something to do with the non-existent heating! But I don't want to pull it and the whole thing fall apart like Inspector Gadget's car!
