I'm not quite fit enough to cycle it yet.

There is a crazy running race from Brecon and back. There is a crazy record something like 20 minutes for the descent!!!

I saw two ladies do the run from the storey arms car park to the summit and back five times yesterday, they were on their way back up for the fifth time as I came down. That’s hard! :hattip:

I can only manage about a mile nowadays before I’m in a lot of pain
It wasn’t all that long ago I was running 10k in 50 mins

Pen Y Fan does attract the crazies. In the snow they were running up in shorts and t-shirts

I was dressed for the weather!

Probably ripped itself off over time, due to uneven centrifugal forces. If the whole thing was made in a CNC machine, with an upgraded ‘bump feed spring’, it may work.

I just looked up the records for the Pen Y Fan Race - the record ascent is 22minutes and 20 seconds!!! The record for the descent is bloomin' crazy - something @Beaver would probably try :D at 7 minutes and 5 seconds!!!!!!!!

A cousin of mine is/was a fell runner. His parents even had had their own bit of fell in the Lakes c/w shaggy long horned cows. Legs like tree trunks, calves bigger than my thighs... sprinting up hills for fun, it must get addictive.

  9. I’ve got a very rare illness inherited from my dad
    It damages your muscles
That’s what’s knackered my heart so im on medication and have had a pacemaker and defib fitted
and it seems it’s starting on other muscles now
My posture is poor, my body is starting to twist,
My strength is poor I get a lot of pain around my waist, groin, back and my shoulder.
Trying to walk a decent distance in one go just results in what feels like I’ve torn my muscles to shreds.

Im waiting to see a inherited neurolo muscular disease specialist but I’m not holding out hope
There’s only 50 people in the world with it,they don’t know much about it and there’s no cure.

  12. Marmite happens and it’s no one’s fault
I’m really lucky I’m still alive (this has killed a lot of my family)and still able to get out and about.
It’s just been outdoors and walking the hills and been in woodland etc has always been a big part of who i am
To have that taken away from me is quite a kicking I didn’t realise how much I took it for granted.

Same here. When they put the cannula in the night before the op to take my leg off I felt like my world had come to an end, when they said they were going to give me a chance to work with them to save it through diet exercise and medication I thought ‘ just tell me what I have to do and I’ll do it!’

We’ve been to Clitheroe, camping in the bus for two nights. A long walk yesterday, we visited Clitheroe Castle on the way back.

Well if it’s the same as the ones I took a few years ago and it looks it they went very easily. My old man seems to know every trick in the book when it comes to propagating plants, probably because he’s so tight!

  20. Did you know that if you don’t have rooting compound you can soak a stem of willow in water for a week then use that water.
Willow when cut and placed in water will put out loads of the rooting hormone into water.

great stuff for gorilla gardening is willow because you only have to stick a green branch in the ground and it will grow.
Just don’t plant it near drains as the roots will search them out and brake into them.
