Thanks for daring to come back and address the points David.

But despite your protestations to the contrary, there were Amber flood warning for days beforehand that everyone in the uk other than the Camperjam Comittee were aware of and trying to plan for.

Simply repeating something over and over doesn't make it true though I guess eventually we'll get bored, so it should work.

I'm looking forward to the official CJ response/statement/offer or whatever. Not your fault David.

  2. I think on David's side it is more of a case of damned if they do and damned if they don't. Honesty would have been the best policy "it's going to be muddy and wet but we will do our best to make it a good show, those that don't attend get a discount" etc etc.

Not a great position to be in really.

And EVERYBODY knew there was serious weather coming, unless you lived under a rock for a week ;)

  4. Like everyone s said thanks for posting David
We all knew the weather was going to be bad and I think people on your side were being very optimistic to say the least
It was the low level of help/giveing a fig from the stewards on the way in that s really got my back up
It would of run better without them there
a poor running bus at Vw show is normal and they wouldn't help ,couldn't tell me where tlb camping was other than "club camping is over there " not much help with how many clubs in attendance they couldn't even manage to stop the traffic for me to make a dash for it
Not good mate and that's nothing to do with the weather
Good stewards would of however avoided a lot of the mud
bath hope lessons where learned and I hope it doesn't cos you too dearly next year :)

  5. Whom do I liaise with re sorting out some plaques for the line up you guys did..which I missed totally as was immersed in trying to have some sort of show n shine. Did Julian the photographer get to see it? If not can I have some pics of it to run in the magazine?
also can I just say it was NOT a surprise to me when I was told the Late Bays, T4/5 forum and Brazil displays were not able to happen (in answer to a comment on here)...Ok I may have been naive in thinking the Show itself would be able to happen in some way and hold my hand up to that...
hindsight is a wonderful thing...and I wonder what everyone would have been saying had it been cancelled thurs night / fri morning...
clearly a lot of work needs to be done now to make you willing to try again for next year....
please send all comments direct to the Camperjam team....nothing else I can say or do myself other than hope that you and others are willing to come back and try again next year. Its the traders I felt for most in all this...

  6. Ouch ok until the last sentence. Do you mean the traders that turned up and saw it through to the death, the traders that saw diminishing returns and bailed out due to sunday being cancelled, the traders that turned up and thought better of it an buggered off (allegedly) or those that didnt see the point throwing good money after bad and didnt turn up at all.

Im most sorry for the punters whdidnt get the experience they were expecting (and which, frankly was achieveable).

Its the customers that are most important dave as we support the scene and the traders and without us there is neither.

Personally I think it's getting really negative, everyone I saw and spoke to at weekend had a good time. Yes lessons to be learnt but focusing on negatives is taking away the fun we had.

but we going around in circles. yes i think it should of been cancelled and if it went ahead temp roads should of been used. but at same time i have no regrets about going. david eccles has been on here and credit to him for that, i will email stuart at jazz and point him in direction of thread as he is the user CamperJam.

    :)

  12. Agreed. I want it to be better and go to it! (and get some discount and a plack for the line up) :)

  13. when I said I felt most sorry for traders (including the food ones) I think what I really meant was that they probably faced the worst conditions having to try and camp in a sea of mud and having to be towed on and off...at least most of the campers managed to have a bus to go back to and an area to chat to people (but b4 you shoot me down I am NOT saying the conditions on some camping areas were acceptable!)
Of course the punters are the most important facet to any show or event...
Sorry if some of you encountered what came over as unhelpful staff....the attitude of staff has always been something I have been proud of...
prob best to move on now and look ahead...I think the messages here come over loud and clear!
    BAYBIRMINGHAM: have sent pm thanks!

  15. I will arrange to get plaques to pete to distribute to tghe line up folks....

  16. Just received an email stating refunds for people not attending the weekend camping will not be issued as the weekend went ahead as planned and all scheduled events went ahead...... Not exactly true eh ! Must be forgetting that the Beat did not arrive along with other events / acts. To me this makes it clear that it's a case of "show me the money" ;-)
