No. He'll pretend to use economy public transport but then nip out to his chauffeur driven car once the cameras have gone.
He could have probably found a service with no seats if he'd just turned up at peak time. Apparently Nationalising the railways will mean more trains and lower fares, not sure how keen the non-train using public will be on the extra subsidies required, but as usual it's easier to make an uncosted off the cuff remark than it is to come up with real policies.

I don't know the figures, it would be pretty hard to tell relating to inflation / passenger numbers etc. The big subsidy goes on Network Rail, which is effectively already a Nationalised company. Nick and Margaret (from The Apprentice) did a good programme showing where the money was going, private profit was a tiny amount and Network Rail was most of it. Government interference by the DfT was cited as a major cause of extra costs, so the 'Nationalised' parts of the business / Government departments were noted to be the inefficient parts. Since Virgin took over on East Coast from Directly Operated Railways (Government franchise), it is noticable when travelling that the seat loadings are higher and that it is easier to get a cheap advance fare at short notice than it used to be. Clearly Virgin are paying a premium over the 'profit' generated by the Nationalised franchise and are doing this by getting more people onto their trains. You can only pay for more trains without more subsidy if you increase passenger numbers.
I had no opinion one way or the other until he was shown for what he is. I'd heard he was a politician for the people; it turns out he isn't. That's all.
Which was the last politician you can remember being for the people? Once they are on that gravy train they don't like being kicked off.
I admit to being a bit gutted as I love Jeremy. However, at least he sits on the floor even if only for a bit. I've spent too many train journeys sat outside a toilet
