Remember your first VW Camper wave?

  1. Our first was on the day we bought her.
On the way home we were desperate (sad I know) to wave at another van. It took ages until a splitty was coming the other way on the M1. He very casuly raised his arm, me and the Mrs were bouncing about waving irraticaly. He must have thought we were insane (or newbs).

    ;D

  4. None yet, still firmly in the SMG but hopefully soon .........

  5. Mine was the first day I took the van out after buying it. About three miles in I got a massive wave from a guy in a T4. Made my day. Camperjam was our first long run in the van and I loved the fact that we even were getting waves and flashes from bays in the far lane of the opposite carriageway.

I really like the waves from totally random cars. You kinda expect it from other old dubs but when some random in a shiny new eurobox waves it reminds you how special a vehicle you've got.

  6. Any one else get that split second momentary panic when someone (who isn't in a vw bus) waves and you think that perhaps they're trying to tell you that something's either falling off the van or something's on fire...........or is it just me

Happened today before realising that it was just people being friendly ;D

  7. So what is the vw wave ?
    1 finger, 2 fingers ?
    >:D

  8. when i was turning in to the estate after driving it back up from eley.

  9. Driving off the ferry in Dover at 11:00pm after six week trip round Europe and spotting another Jaffa waiting to board the same ferry in '93, I gave him the bird thinking he was wanting to violate my nasal passage and another special place with this peculiar hand signal. I wasn't aware then of this unique symbol of Brotherhood....my bad! :-[
Apologies to the owner if you're on TLB and remember some ***** hanging out of the window giving you another special gesture!! ;) Peace and love.

First one today , its only taken a week :D from a guy in a nice blue 78 that lives in the village, he's not on here though.

  11. Mine was the same day I picked it up, was driving back from Bournemouth on the A31 (?) and went past a bus on fire on the other side of the road and the guy just looked away from the fire fighters and gave me the saddest wave I have ever seen.

  12. I had driven about 1/4 mile up the road from where I picked it up and stopped at a T junction. Looked left to see what was coming and it was very nice Split. Got a wave and a nice toot on his Klaxon horn. New at that moment that I was part of the 'club'.

  13. re lorry drivers salute ? i"m more a "using my lights" driver thou i must say i get seriously hacked off when ,after signalling a driver (truck) its safe distance to pull over i doNOT get expected on/off of rear lamps! and yes i do realise i should get out more !

  14. None yet........although I've only driven it for about 5 miles and now planning to take the engine out!

  15. My first wave was when we were coming out of Torquay after our first weekend away in the camper van, quite a few years ago a few lads in an old polo gave me hang 10 wave. Me not knowing thought they were being rude so I gave them a middle finger wave, while hanging out off the window.
If it was anybody on here. SORRY.

  16. our first one was from a lowered ratty split at night , i got excited like a teenage girl at a one direction gig.
