Remember your first VW Camper wave?

We got our first VW Camper wave yesterday on our way home from our first overnight stay in North Norfolk ...what a great feeling of friendship!

 

My first encounter was with a Brazilian - I waved and they blanked me

 

Oooh they are good aren't they. Our first one was in a hired camper on the way to our wedding. Our second was in our own camper and turned out to be Bumpnudger and Crazylady from here....crazylady had the most enthusiastic wave I have EVER seen, still brings a smile to my face now ^-^

 

My first was when i was filling up my dads "early" bay at a petrol station and a dustbin truck blow his horn and started doing the VW sign with his hand. I will never forget that

 

I loved it, mine was on my first trip in Molly to the lakes, it was in barrow-in Furness...it was a new 1 but I got a really enthusiastic wave and beep and felt super happy x

 

Ours was on the Scottish border whilst trying to cook Arbroath Smokies in high winds with nothing but a pub umbrella for protection. It was from a 21 window Samba. We would have missed them if they hadn't beeped us.

Actually, we have a picture taken 5 minutes before it happened.

 

Our first in our own vw camper was last week in Cornwall when driving past a fellow bay. We've hired and borrowed vw campers before but the first wave in our own van that we've only had a week was fab ;D

 

Mine was the on my trip home from picking william up, never forget it. Now I just get my 3yr old co-driver to do the waving she loves it

Our first was from two people who overtook us on a Honda Fireblade who gave us a very enthusiastic VW sign. I'm a biker and biker waves are dying out a bit so that was really nice.

 

Mine first was in a mates beetle. Loved the sense of solidarity with people in the same car. Got a bus soon after.

Was many years ago now.

 

Mine was in Oxfordshire, when i had my '55 Bug, this was before I knew what the wave even was! I waved (normal wave!) back as I'm naturally smiley and friendly anyway, it wasn't until I got back to camp that I found out it was a VW Wave

I love the feeling, sad maybe, but being in Cornwall I see my fair share of Campers tootling about, normally as i'm whizzing to and from work in the Focus. I ALWAYS flash and wave but it's quite rare to get one back
I've found, maybe people are surprised/confused?

Obviously I need to be either in my van for them to realise or I need to bump into some of you guys!

I remember driving from my old Camp in the south of Cornwall up to Newquay and 1/2 of the way there I caught up with 2 other Bays, they tooted 2/3 a tune on their horns and i finished it off, they turned off into an industrial estate, we all tooted again and I had a massive massive smile on my face all day. It doesn't take a lot to make someone smile!

 

don`t really remember my first wave but remember the other half asking if I knew some bloke in a garage as he was waving at us in our bay
I said no he`s waving cos we have a vw and he does too
ahhhhh she says why?

 

Mine was from a little girl of about 8, sat in the passenger seat of a T4 that over took me on the M4. She had the biggest grin on her face, It made me smile all the way to Torquay.
