The best weekend for us for flashes, toots n waves was when we all convoyed over to Burnby Hall from Trevland - the amount of people waving etc was unbelieveable!

We stopped in a layby near the Humber Bridge, a little lad stopped with his parents, he loved Philmore from Cars & looked round all our vans, it really did make his day!!

Me and mrs pod hired a van before we bought ours to make sure we were doing the right thing, less than half a mile outside our village a late bay came down the hill flashing lights and waving like crazy. Think we were both convinced at that exact point and we got our van within a month.

  3. i got my first wave as a bus owner about 20 minutes into my inugrual journey up to the lakes , a guy came past beeping and showing his young son how to do the VW wave .. it wasnt long after that the engine blew !! nobody seemed to wave that for much the rest of the day
    :laugh2:

Er, no I don't, actually. It's not as if it's as easy to remember as the first girl that you, er, kissed is it? I've had hundreds of waves. Thousands, maybe, in the first bus I owned 12 years ago.

I don't remember the first wave but I guess it would have been back in about 1972
Probably someone warning me that something was about to fall off my 1954 splitty ^-^

Like terrordales i can't remember it must have been late 70s when i was messing about with vws with me mates-- deffo 78 when we got our first bay -

yes the wave goes that far back ! someone told me it began in the uk when anyone who had a car waved at another car ; when campers became commonplace and cars were two a penny camper drivers waved at each other these days people only wave at campers of the same marque -- shame really .

can you remeber your first lorry drivers salute ?.
