New Project Alert Max and I are certainly no strangers to getting involved in an in-depth project, with both our Bay window camper and Baja undergoing years of work to get them ready for the world. I'm delighted to announce that our next project is very much a joint project and will be joining our family in October as Max and I become first time parents! We've been together since the youthful age of 15, and after 22 years together the timing was right for us to expand the family (you can't rush into these things!) My upholstery work will still be part of my life but will be taking a little more of a backseat at least for the next few years as I currently fit the upholstery work around a full-time job in IT, as well as trying to work on my own projects. I've avoided booking in any work over the summer to allow us time to sort a few bits around the house ahead of welcoming baby to the world, as well as hopefully getting a little more done on our split screen project which has been sat in the garage untouched for most of the year so far. We're both super excited for what the future holds and definitely see classic cars continuing to be a big part of our lives. Please do continue to think of me for any upholstery work from January 2026 onwards, but expect longer response and lead times. Jim and Max (+ Baby & Barnaby the Schnauzer) p.s I had to include this outtake picture of B with the baby scans as it just cracked me up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Awesome news Jim and Max! Life will never be the same again (and you won't know what that really means until about a six months time lol). Well done.
Cheers Rob. I don't think anyone can ever be "ready" but we're up for the challenge! Ask me again in 6 months when I'm sleep deprived though. Maybe I've been subtly preparing myself over the last few months as squeezing in some of these full interiors has resulted in quite a few late nights!
"What oil" still a valid question however ... and misc parts still required in the early stages ... anti-roll bar, cooling fan, rock and roll bed, sound deadening, temperature gauge, wipers etc etc
I'm already compiling a list of some things I could make to save a bit of cash I've knitted baby's first hat too.
I was back over at NOSVW a few weeks back to fit the custom carpet set to Simon’s Studebaker. It’s now like the Hilton in there and I love the contrast of the heavy patina with a brand new set of carpets
Hopefully it won't be too bad, although my mum said the first 2 years with my brother were awful for sleep.
A little non car related project for @Dub and Dubber this month. These lovely little 70s bar stools are in for a retrim in a nice grey vinyl. I’ve 4 to get through but couldn’t resist getting one all built up to see how they look.
Damn your eyes Jim! Everyone will be wanting to come round for drinks now!! Seriously though, can't wait to get these back and in place ... my parents bought these kitchen/dining chairs new in the mid 70's meaning I grew up with them and ate up on them so this had to be done! There's nowhere to hide with these... much trickier to fit right than your average car seat Maybe it's the bug next
