Cathy’s VW T6 rear bench all finished up this week. This should inject a nice dash of colour into her van’s interior! Apologies for the random location for the photos, it’s too big to fit anywhere else in the workshop.
“Build me a new old bench”! The brief from Simon over at NOSVW for his Studebaker truck’s front bench was to build a bench that looks like it’s been in the truck for years, being used and abused. He showed me an old leather coat he had to give me an idea of the look he was after. This fantastic leather from Wildman and Bugby was the perfect match as it’s “brûlée” texture cracks as it’s handled to give an instant worn look. I’m very happy with the finished result and can’t wait to see it in the truck. I’ll be doing some nice red carpets for the cab to go alongside this.
A productive morning down at NOSVW today patterning out the custom carpets and getting the front bench installed. The aged leather instantly looks at home in there!
A quick repair job for my neighbour's Oliver Bonas handbag. None of the local cobblers wanted to touch it but I’ve done it for her! One new loop fitted for the strap as the original one had nearly worn through. Before: During: After:
He stuck his head over the fence while I was putting up the cladding on the garden room and said it seemed mad to throw the bag away as the rest of it is in good condition. Always satisfying keeping something out of landfill if possible.
My son got a Kipling bag to go to school, the zipper is broken and nobody seems able to change it! He used 4 years and was in good shape. It kills me to dump it just for a zipper.
