Technologically, China has already won in case you didn't know. While European defense contractors share prices are rising, without China we can't actually build anything. China, months ago, banned exports of almost anything used making weapons.
A new phone plant is opening soon with no employees. Completely robot and will churn out one phone every second 24/7/365 days a year.

Did you hear the one about such "dark" factories? A bunch of robots, one man and one dog. The man's job is to feed the dog, the dog's job is to bite the man if he touches the robots.

For the past decade western media has been solidly reporting that because prices for everything in China have been dropping it shows the Chinese economy is failing. It's only quite recently they realised that actually it's because they're becoming more efficient. For what it costs to hire 5 US engineers, China can employ 40. They have 1/2 the world's top universities, the students overwhelmingly choose engineering and science degrees and reject "soft" degrees.

USA is already screwed, it's way too late to try and catch up and even with every American on board China will continue to surge ahead not only because they have 80% + of high tech raw materials and for some 100% of world refining.

The Donster is not wrong fearing the above.

On a smaller scale we are all familiar with the tactics of a failing company taking over a profitable one, making the new conglomerate appear profitable? What's Donalds plan - I suggest he is 100% serious about invading Canada, Mexico, Panama and as much of South America as possible. Cheap labour, materials, oil...
He's already invaded Panama if you hadn't noticed with US troops stationed along the Panama canal "at Panama's invitation". Yeah, right...

A typical modern Chinese factory - 10 engineers, AI and robots. One day they make RV bodies, the next day modular homes, the next bolt together hotels. It takes the 10 engineers a couple of days using AI to completely set up the robots to make a new product. Give them the design, 2 days later it's spitting out an RV shell? Europe and the USA are MILES behind.

I realise you would have to want to watch these to watch them, but here's one that helps to comprehend the scale of the arrogance of USA culture.

Meanwhile in the US Medical insurance companies use AI to reject claims.

If Apple distributed their shares equally among every American, each American would have $9,000 of shares. That was last year. Right now it's valued even higher.

If they did the same with every person in the world, each would have £350 of shares. More now.

But, Apple's problem is they don't own any of the supply chain. They don't own the factories, the employees aren't Apple employees. All they own is the market. China owns everything else. They can't move out of China because every step of making an iPhone is actually owned by China, including the ships that deliver them. If China decided for example to say, no more rare earth magnets for you Apple they'd go bust in a year. Multiply that by every US tech company.

On the subject of shipping - One company in China in 2022 made more commercial shipping than the entirety of USA ship building from the end of WW2 to present day. Some hope of rejuvenating their ship building industry.

30 years ago China's GDP was 1% of the world total, Now it's the second largest.

Why does Trump think he can take on China?

Even the rare earth stuff USA digs up themselves they send almost all of it to China to refine. Oops.
    Titanium - China
    Tungsten - China
They've done multi-decade deals throughout the world to dig up rare earth and other metals, built highways in Africa and South America, built ports and other infrastructure such that apparently there are in control of 90% of rare earth stuff and 100% on the processing.
If we end up fighting Russia we'll be in trouble because we won't be able to get some of the materials for basic things like shells and bullets. The EU must have already used up a lot of their stockpile over the past 4 years. Is it coincidence that USA wants/has stopped sending arms this way? Keeping what they can ready to hunker down against their imaginary enemy China?

The UK owns an awful lot of US Treasury bonds ($690B), by far the most after Japan ($1.1T) and China ($750B) and almost twice as much as the next country on the list.
Maybe that's why Trump is a bit more softly softly than with others. Japan and China have been selling some, prodding the bond market further into decline and we could (and probably should) offload some too.
Seems like Trumps hand of cards is not great so he's bluffing, but countries are gently pushing back. Gently because things are already F'd up as it is, not out of any respect for Trump. Kiss my arse indeed, what a pillock.

  14. The magic minerals are dysprosium, gadolinium, lutetium, samarium, scandium, terbium, and yttrium - China produces 99.92% of the worlds supply and without them you're not making any modern tech at all.

China just told Trump to stop whining :D

...and without titanium no robots, robot production lines etc etc. He doesn't care, he just wants the markets to plummet in a handy sawtooth shape that he organised so he and his mates can make a killing on the way down. The tech AI bubble had to burst so he burst it on purpose to make money on the way.

Up until about 10 years ago, China left it's excess balance of trade invested in the USA, either bonds or outright buying up or starting new companies there. Since then they've been selling bonds, selling companies, laying off USA workers and also not buying as before, a double whammy. Now they're investing the surplus in Africa, Asia and South America and keeping it to base brics$ on. They still love the dollar, they do not love American banks.

China Tariffs up to 245% lol
China says they'll willing to talk to a representative if shown some respect, but not with Trump.
They also say USA should stop Whining. lol
    Go China!
They say "USA is not being ripped off by anybody. The problem is USA has been living beyond it's means for decades. It consumes more than it produces. It has outsourced it's manufacturing and borrowed money in order to have a higher standard of living than it entitled to based on it's productivity. Rather than being "cheated" the US has been taking a free ride on the globalisation train. The US should stop whining about being a victim of global trade and put an end to it's capricious and destructive behaviour".

Spot on, somebody had to say it. The UK isn't much better as far as living beyond our means.

Professor Sachs is one of the world's leading experts on economic development, global macroeconomics, and the fight against poverty. His work has taken him to more than 130 countries, and he has advised dozens of world leaders in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East on economic strategy.

    Ignore the clickbait.
