The network companies are 100% culpable here.

The IMEI number (is the handset unique identifier) is blocked across all networks if reported stolen, rendering it useless.

But only in Europe in one of those pesky unhelpful European Laws.

Meanwhile the providers in Africa are stating they can't do this....these are the same network providers we have here, using the same technology, or with contracted partners in the same position....the technology exists to impose the same bans as in Europe.

    Write to your MP.

The companies in Aftica that front the services won't care....they earn money from accounts, not handset sales.

  8. Thanks Lisa,

He was shook up , but no harm done,

He has a spring in his step now the offender has been identified,
and due to the number of charges
will be having his own criminal record,

Matt will go to the identity parade,
    but tbh ,
the mugger had a hood tied up, and a scarf on as a mask
Matt only saw his eyes, he knows what colour he was ..;)

I think his likkle gangster may not be so big ,
when he gets to meet some of the bigger gangsters inside..:)

  10. no comment interviews just mean you did it, if you were innocent you would tell them where you were and how you came into these posessions.

The fact that the 'male' was in detention for a similar offence when property from your sons crime was found in his home during a subsequent search is to the prosecutions advantage.

However it has to be proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the 'male' in detention was the person who carried out the crime involving your son. This is where the issue is, as your son saw a person wearing a mask and any statement taken from him will reflect this (the statement will be taken before an ID parade is carried out) and therefore the defence solicitor will try to dismiss any later identification based on the probabilities of mistaken identification due to the lack of full face that was seen in a such a short period of time when the crime occurred and time lapsed since.

The prosecution may well consider an alternative offence of handling stolen goods as they have found stolen property in the 'males' home which he has failed to give a satisfactory explanation for by answering "no comment" to questions in interview.
It is hoped the interviewing officer used the special caution/warning in respect of the fact that stolen goods from a robbery were found in the 'males' home when he had been detained for a similar offence as the fact the male 'declined to give an explanation would allow the court to draw an inference.

Dont be surprised if the defence come up with a story that the items found in the 'males' home had been put there without his knowledge by a visiting friend or the 'male' was storing them for a friend and had no knowledge they were stolen.

With luck the 'male' already has convictions for the same offence and this will be raised as a bad character in the interview and will increase any subsequent sentencing on conviction.

It may be that the prosecution offer the 'male' the opportunity to have your sons crime dealt with as a TIC as an inducement for the 'male' to admit the offence and get a detection statistic.

This is often the reality of the British Judicial system as the solicitors have bent, twisted and distorted it and the Goverment don't want to pay for court time........ But I do honestly wish your family the best and I hope you get the outcome you want for the 'male'.

these little scrotes tend to know what to do to avoid convictions,no doubt from their peers,

We won't be losing any sleep over the outcome tbh,

But Matt will do what can, he's been to see the police officer today...
and they seemed positive about the evidence..;)
