  5. You can always renew the rear ones later when funds allow As they sit under the sills so you wouldn't have to disturb your magnificent workmanship! Yes, by rear I meant the one at the back of where your belly pans came to under the c post.

  7. Good shout! the rear ds outrigger could do with a patch but the nearside is fine and being able to leave them in situ would make the fundraising a bit easier

I gave away two perfectly good inner sills when we sold the doka. He never needed them. If I had known you needed some and were tight on you could have had them gratis.

Ah well. I knew I should have kept them.

  11. Well my ebay stuff sold.....and provided the buyers dont dick me about it should cover all ther panels and welding supplies and leave me with enough spare for wheel adaptors for my wide 5 steels, which in turn means I can sell my BRM's, which in turn means I can get a couple of other vw related ideas I have off the ground :)

  14. Funny that. Back in the day they were much cheaper than Golfs and nobody wanted 'em. My second car (1995) was a MK1 Jetta 1.6cl in blue. My dad gave it to me after failing to sell it for £250. It was a cracker until an articulated lorry pulled out in front of me while I was crossing over the North Circular road.

I bought another a couple of years later, a GL in tasty metallic red. I'd been to see some Golfs but I couldn't afford a decent one - even a rusty 1300 5 door was £500! Anyway, the GL looked better but didn't run quite as well. I paid £250. A year later I traded it in for my first bay, a rusty 79 panel van. I had to give the dude £600 on top.

Anyway, good luck with your bus!

  15. Yeah, I can remember when you couldnt give a jetta away......now theyre a pretty rare car and highly sought after......show standard 20valved ones can fetch 6k upwards!
mind you, I can also remember when nobody wanted bay buses, and you could pick up a tidy runner for £500 lol
I got offered a mint splittie when I was in my early 20's and I turned it down for being overpriced.......at £2000 hahaha
