I've already done that, I've got a double thickness wooden deck lid underneath the rear cushion incorporating a slide out coffee table and a spare wheel well hatch similar to yours. I've fitted my battery charger and consumer unit in there.
Just a thought , has anyone cut out a section of the rear seat cushion and ply base. Create a lockable box from the underside
Another good idea as well. That would be a good place to keep passports and holiday cash for example.
When we went travelling in the T4,we had a metal cash box bolted through the floor for our passports and cash etc. we figured if anyone managed to steal it, or the bus, we prob wouldn't want to take them on anyway but that it would be enough to deter chancers.
obviously once they've nicked your van all the security devices in the world won't help, but carefully hiding the valuables might mean they smash a window and grab a bag of dirty washing rather than a laptop or satnav.
Nah! It's cool, it's not like I've put my PIN No online. I mean if you found out it was 2846 I'd have to change it.
We have a small car safe (one of those ones you bolt down in a cage and it slots in) that's big enough for passports/cash/satnav/phones. I could tell you where I've put it, but I'd have to kill you afterwards.
if it was a choice between nicking a camera bag or a tool box , us common people would go for the tool box, your raffles thief would go for the camera... Never thought about locking the camper , never mind having a secret place....
it would be a good way to test them out , if you get thru report each one to bbc panorama , even funnier errrm well more important check ours
The scary day was when I paid a bill in a restaurant and the price was the same as the PIN on the card I was using. I wondered very hard for about five seconds about how they had got the PIN.
If I paid a bill in a restaurant and the price was the same as the PIN on the card I was using the scary thing would be HOW MUCH!
I went through the Channel Tunnel a couple of years ago with a 50cal and a 30cal ammunition box in the camper in plain sight without any problems. Mind you, the 50cal box was painted to match the blue colour of the van and contained oil/gearbox oil/coolant/spark plugs, and the 30cal was stickerbombed and contained all my tools.
