  1. Hi all!

I have been in contact with Simon at Red9Design, ( I hope nobody minds)

I know there are quite a few people on here inquiring about the quality of the coilovers, prices, ride etc, me being one of them!

http://www.red9design.com/type2.htm here is the link to their range of T2 suspension parts, they also do a large capacity fuel tank!!

The offer covers coilovers, Twin wishbone coilover suspension and possibly other products depending on the feedback I get from you guys!

If any one is interested in a group buy for the the deal is as follows:

5 people or more = 5% discount (example £415 coilovers will be £394.25)
10 people or more = 10% discount (example £415 coilovers will be £373.50)

  2. Am I reading this right that the coil over kit will drop the front by 2-4" (Adjustable) and can be fitted by a competent (if lazy) mechanic?
If so, bung me down for one! As long as it'll fit my X-Dresser. :D

  3. you have to make sure your front beam is in A1 condition as all the front end weight is carried by 2 bolts at the top of the beam

  4.
  5. so is dropped spindles a better way to lower the front end?

I'm finding it hard getting my head around how many different ways you can lower busses, can someone do a 'lowering busses for dummies' guide for me please?
Such as what you need to buy and do for each lowering option?

I want to get it right first time thats all, Im after between a 2 to 5 inch drop on the front and 2 to 3 inch drop on the rear

    Thanks :)

  7. If you lower on adjusters, you end up with a hard, bouncy ride, and your ball joints are stressed as they are expected to operate at angles that differ from the norm.

If you lower using coilovers, then all the weight of the front end is concentrated on the shock towers, and you get the same issue with the ball joints.

If you lower with dropped spindles, then your beam leaves are still operating at the same angle, as are your suspension arms, etc, so you get lowering but with a more comfy ride. But it's expensive.

    Take your pick.

I've seen photos of a collapsed front set-up on VZi that they claimed had a Red9 kit on....
I however wouldn't know one if it hit me in the face so I stand to be corrected.

I might be interested, but will need to do some more homework / listen to hearsay before making my mind up!!

What sort of time frame are you looking at to make the order?

  15. Oh I'm not in any rush, a few weeks for sure, I totally understand, I am still doing my homework on them compared to drop spindles etc, my head hurts to be honest!!

  17. I've spent hours reading through the various threads.
A lot of opinion and rumour, not so much hard fact.
However it would appear that the coilover design is sound in both principal and practice, provided that your Bus is of good sound construction.
The more engineeringly minded you are the more the design stacks up and there appears to be NO hard evidence of any failure, only rumour and 'my mate says'...........
The overwhelming majority approve and these tend to be the 'end users', those who have actually bought and fitted the product, those complaining seem to have had NO actual experience and either just don't like the idea or, in some cases, have a vested interest in rival systems/methods.
With all this in mind, I'm in!
    Put me down for one.

After a search it appears that the front shock bolts snapped on a set-up in the states but that it was NOT RED9 kit. Can only find good things about it.

  19. ive been looking into getting the red9 front wishbone beam kit so put me down for one of them!!
