OK folks, how do i dig myself out of this rut?

  1. Life in general is getting me down. Every day seems to be the same, nothing changes. We're only 2 weeks into the new year and i'm already sick to death of it.

Vehicles need work i can't do without somewhere undercover to do it.
Van insurance is due at the end of the month and not sure if i'm gonna be able to afford it.
Garage is still not finished and it got slightly damaged due to the 70mph wind gusts .
Weather is bloody cold, wet and miserable and to top it off the inlaws have just told us they are off to Vietnam and Malaysia for 2 1/2 weeks and leaving their dogs with us (they booked the holiday then asked us) so Spring Dubs at the beginning of March is now off.:(

I've got a seriously short temper at the moment with even small problems getting me angry.
Basically i'm totally pee'd off with everything.

  2. The wind and gales were not your fault

2 weeks into a new year doesn't change things its just time moving on

  3. Tell the in laws you have devolped a bad reaction to animals ie dogs , cats etc anything with hair

  4. Sorn the van and get the garage finished

  5. Look on the bight side of life ...... Not helping? Seriously, look at the big picture. You can't change the weather! If vehicles need work to pay the bills then find alternative cover whilst garage is fixed/finished then you will be a happy bunny again with the small problems exiting you most?!

Sounds to me like you are depressed.

Read up on it (assuming you have never been diagnosed as depressed before), check your symptoms.

I find recognising and accepting depression really helps - it also gives you an idea on coping strategies.

January is usually the worse month for depression.

  12. We've had pretty much a week and a half of gales and driving rain here. Just getting me down needing the house lights on at 10 in the morning.
I've been feeling like this since probably October time. Missus is sleeping about 1/2 the day so i'm doing all the stuff in the house. Not really had time to do owt else.

I've been driving my caravelle around with a blowing exhaust and a couple of slow punctures since November. Not had the fine weather or cash to fix either.

  13. Book the dogs into kennels for the day after your in-laws go until the day before they get back, buy Spring Dub tickets.

Sounds like you're lacking serotonin mate, daylight and exercise help the brain produce it naturally. Embrace the weather get properly dressed for it and get out for a walk or ride, you live in a fab part of the country. Few more weeks and the days will be getting noticeably longer

  17. Hang in there!!! I was a bit overfaced with stuff recently too, hence my thread a few weeks ago thinking about selling van and classics and just focusing on family ! Just this time of year. On the plus side we are getting lighter days now.

One thing at a time - Get van on SORN for a bit, sort the garage out and everything else will fall in to place. Good luck:thumbsup:

  18. Zeb is in a rut ,only HE has the power to get out of it ....

and as @art b pointed out ,the weather can be a factor IF you let it...

  19. Beat me to it. If the in laws can afford a couple of weeks in the far east they can afford to put the dogs in kennels.
Sounds selfish but do something you want to do for a bit.

  20. When I start feeling anything like that shmbo will typically tell me to ' suck it up ' - she's rarely wrong!
