Statewide rekon the sump plate sensor gives a false indication of the oil temp, and they sell a kit that takes a reading as it comes out of the pump to give a more accurate picture. Would speak To stateside tuning for more info Jon
this may well be true but factory porche 914 came with the the sump plate taco panel which points the long sender to the correct place .
How about one of these ---> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400293841065?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I have some very 'individual' gold vdo oil temp and pressure gauges that I'm going to replace soon. They don't suit my 79 van. Very 'steampunk' if I had to describe them. I'll be putting them up for sale very soon. Like this... http://www.egauges.com/vdo_bld.asp?Series=Heritage_Gold
Has anybody used one of these from CSP? It replaces the original oil pressure relief screw and allows the the installation of a M14x1.5 oil temp sender unit.
Thanks guys for your replys. As I'm thinking about fitting a non fan assisted remote oil cooler I'm thinking about one of these to go in the oil line coming out of the sandwich plate. If i wasn't going down the oil cooler route then the sandwich plate one looks a good way.
as with all senders/gauges of this nature it depends on the errors in the cables/installation which will determine how accurate these will be. Unless you are going to go through a complex and expensive calibration process across the entire temperature and pressure range then the gauges, at best, offer an ability to monitor changes as they will be far from accurate. Once you have established what the 'normal' operating temps/pressures are the gauges allow you to watch for significant change
That's all I want one for to check for out of the normal temp. Think I've decided to get a sandwich plate type fitment to run the gauge out of there and see how the temp is before I decide to fit a oil cooler.
