Sometimes I go for months and it's no problem - I know the ropes. Then despite everything I know and do it turns to mush when it's the last rice to go with a curry made from refrigerator scrapings. I'm 'kin starving as well - the boy won't be impressed....
you no wot i have same prob it really p xxxs me off do you wash your rice to get the starch off that works for me (sometimes) lol cant beat boil in bag really can ya ;D
2 minute microwave rice is the way forward. but coeliacs beware, one company put wheat AND barley in! I found that out the hard way
wash it well, just as Fletch said, put cold water in the pan about an inch above the rice, bring to the boil on a steady heat (not too fast or too slow), boil for about 2 minutes, there should be some water left, take it off the heat cover with a clean tea towel and slam the lid back on. Leave it for about 5 minutes, fluff with a fork and voilà!
just keep trying it as its cooking, when its al dente take it out and strain it, it'll keep cooking under its own heat. nothing worse than over cooked rice! apart from over cooked pasta!!!
as for micro rice, my god whats wrong with you people! the top two inches is edible, but the rest is either mush, or congealed rice. not good like rustlers burgers!
