I had no complaints from last nights TLB dinner guests with my microwave rice but then it may have been because l almost forgot to cook it and didn't have time to wait for water to boil.
I'm old and wise enough to know that whatever they did to make rice microwaveable probably involved pulverising it, taking out all that did you any good (and selling that as something else) then forming into rice shaped pellets that on a technicality can be sold as rice. On a similar note - Sainsburys lately reduced their milk fat content by 6%. The fat in milk is harmless - [glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow][/glow]. It does not cause heart disease - [glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow][/glow]. It's a big part of what makes milk good for you. They're literally creaming it off. I had some Duchy full fat milk the other day - I had to prod through the cream on the top - LIKE ALL MILK WAS 40 years ago before they realised they could con us into thinking milk fat was bad (but still cream it off and sell it to us). Same for butter - eat it - don't eat margerine - it's god knows what that saves having herds of cows that's all.
You need a hand full of rice per person and the water needs to cover the rice by an inch , i treat all rice the same , to get the starch out run cold water over the rice andrun boiling water over it when cooked . Margarine or should we say spread is all chemicals
AAh lets see shouldl i eat the marge that has a long list of ingredients most of which are chemicals....or will i feast on that there butter which is made of....ooh look entirely natural....yummy butter. Are you coeliac ermintrude?
I find partaking in Japanese maple can make most meals cook for longer than they should, sooner or later the pirates are gonna realise that even though we are carbon based life forms...extra carbon in the form of burnt bits won't cut it.
Get a rice cooker! Once you get the quantities right cooks the rice right every time and keeps the rice warm till you need it. Most White rice comes out best at a fingerless than 2-1 for me. Paid less than a tenner for mine from ikea 7 years ago still going strong ) ( that microwave stuff loses out on taste for me) Cheers S
