Oh blow

  1. I’ve never had a car that needs the clutch to be depressed to start, and I’ve never done it.
     
  2. I think it's quite common now, tho' obviously not universal.

    It might be why there are some cars you have to put your foot on the brake to register your presence in the driving seat, before you start it.

    I can remember stalling a Smart car on a busy street in Hamburg when I discovered its turning circle would intersect with the parked cars on the other side of the road as I left a hotel carpark.. Then I found out about the foot brake, as before I had just been randomly stabbing things until it started..

    Anyway, thanks for providing an exploded picture of the spot welds on the deformation panel.
