Dementia tax sounds demeaning. Seems like an short cut to capital gains tax.... Anyway how do you administer such taxes wouldn't they be uneconomical to set up who's done the sums.
actually this was set by our glorious last labour goverment - the £25,000 ( its actually about 23) is still a bit misleading as you still ontribute down to 13000 on the basis of £1 every £250 between £13000 up to £23000 you have to contribute £1 so if you get down to the magic figure of £23000 you will still have to pay £40 what people are up in arms about is not care home pensioners but pensioners who get home help - at the moment their property is not included , but the new proposal of £100,000 does include their home but but not until they shuffle off their mortal coils
But this has been going on for decades, Mrs May in this election was proposing you left your family more money after your death,
interestingly if you you work the maths if say you have a house worth 500000 and in some places thats just a terrace house and a £100000 savings giving you £600000 quite possible in some parts if you have dementia and go into a care home your costs would cost you about £33000 a year .now if you live for 3 years that would be £100000 out of your total assets , BUT because you assets excede £400000 your estate would be subjet to 40% inheritance tax so your care wouldn,t cost £100000 but only £60000 - everybody follow that?
Even I trying my hardest couldn't perform that much of a hatchet job on tory support and trust me I'd try everything I could think of
On the plus side I will hear less of Salmon, Sheikh and Robinson!!!! I was sick of that trio, shame that Humza Yousaf didn't go down the road as well!
the tories will have to careful , the,re treading on thin ice and if they rock the boat the,ll sink without a trace ( is that a mixed metaphor ?)
Can't believe how fast things change only 2 months ago I thought Labour had gone never to return, then the Tories decided to implode and its all up in the air again tuesday_wildchild
