It was stuck behind our fireplace. Think it had been there a few days. Appears unharmed but it couldn’t fly so we kept it in our spare room for 3 days to get its strength back. We’re going to see if it can fly again today - if not then we’ll see what the vet suggests. The fact that it hasn’t even managed to get out of the box doesn’t bode well.

  8. Indeed. People forget how unforgiving nature is. Farmers would have no hesitation in wringing Mr Pigeon's neck. Mr Vole will make a nice snack for an owl about 15 minutes after being released.

If his/her tail is longer than around half its body length - its not a vowl - if its tail is as long or longer than its body length, better to call it Roland.

    or Rollan.

If its not a water vowl, which are protected, its still classed as a pest.

Hold your horses chaps, Hailfrank isn’t taking every single small creature in :D. If I were to find an injured creature, I’m sure I’d do what I could for it too. And yep, I’m well aware how unforgiving nature is.

We used to get at least one of those every year. Failed it's flying lesson/attempt than just sat there dazed on the lawn under the trees. Kept overnight then chucked literally off the back step into the air they all flew off. I used to wonder why we did it as I hate the mindless and relentless noise they make. Eventually I chopped that row of trees down and the racket stopped. uh-UUUUH-uh.

Covid has plainly cooked your one remaining marble!

Its hard when they are small - but vermin is vermin.

I think I mentioned it before - some utter bell had live caught some wherever they were from and we about to release them onto my property - my sage advice involved many swearwords.

One man’s vermin is another man’s living thing.
Next you’ll all be telling me I can’t survive being a vegetarian or that it’s an outrage I call a sausage a sausage :theforce:
