  1. I guess we will have to wait to see him in Celebrity Big Brother or in the Jungle.

  7. I think we may need to ask @Clive Neilands to get Darren back on TLB......I feel a skype session coming on! Hurry clive we only have 24 hours to save the Bay!!!! Cue "Flash ahh ahh" music........

  8. I think he came on here in good faith, trying to sort his bus out, worried that someone may have made a mess of it....not knowing much about engines....honest enoughto admit his ignorance
after a while, folks started taking the mick....all in good spirits initially, but then it got a bit personal....

    sound familiar? welcome to TLB:D

  9. I think the trouble is also that if @darren Macrea had the thread on his watch list, his phone must've been going mad....poor bloke only wanted to get his pride & joy fixed with relatively little expense. A new thread is in order "come back @darren Macrea...there is still much to be learned....if you can take a bit of stick".

  10. I know some people thought it was all a bit of a laugh but I agree with the above and I'm a little disillusioned that some thought fit to be less than helpful to put it mildly. Predominantly people who couldn't be bothered to read the thread but felt fit to add their comments.

This thread turned around from what is good about this forum to something somewhat less desirable. Yes, a number of people tried to tell him to do things repeatedly, as did I at one point but it must be difficult as someone trying to help the themselves and trying to take on different advice. Tbh I'm a bit peed off with this.

  11. Well put @vanorak . The internet can be a very confusing playground with so many people giving a multitude of opinions to someone who wasn`t willing to investigate the problems himself and learn as he fiddled with the van .
Top effort from @Clive Neilands for trying to skype him out of it and to be honest i think that was Darrens best chance of a solution - one bloke` talking` him through it .
I might have been a little harsh but it was like pulling teeth at times ......
Good luck Darren - you`ll need it until you learn to do some DIY maintenance and easy trouble shooting - it`s not rocket science !

    :hattip:

  12. Agreed....no sense in seeking advice if you don't act on it...think that's why folks got a bit narked:)

  13. If it was me & I probably know about as much as Darren, I would've listened to @zed he knows his Turnips! Also @Clive Neilands he knows his swedes! There was loads of good advice on this thread, I shall certainly be referring to it when needed.

  14. You could write a book on it......

  15. As someone who watched the thread develop, but didn't post much (I lurk a lot), I think that Darren is in the wrong here....all anyone wanted to do was to help him. There was some basic, non-mechanic instructions given, which he repeatedly ignored in favour of what his 'mates' told him. If he had followed those and either eliminated them, or found the issue, then I think he would have got to the bottom of the problem eventually.....then would have had some light-hearted banter given his way, as is the rules....I don't make the rules!
    Instead, he flounced.

    That's the way I see it :0)

  17. I'd agree with @Stedlocks here. Not all new van owners are mechanically literate, but they can take advice from those who are. Darren seemed distracted by whatever the last person he spoke to told him and seemed reluctant to actually act on the advice given on TLB. Why ask if you're just going to ignore reasonable, informed suggestions? Sad he appears to have gone, but there you go.

We all tried to keep him here but if someone wants to go their wishes have to be accepted. I think that coming into a thread like that with little experience of the way this place operates must have been a bit mind-blowing !

Hopefully he'll realise how much good advice there is amongst the ribbing and make a return at some time.
