My 1970 bug

  3. I'd be happy with the colour of melted chocolate (milk not white or dark ;)).

    Really need to look at a colour swatch thats not on a computer as they all look different depending on which site you go to. ::)

  5. Got the repair to a pillar welded in:

    Welds ground down and a quick coat of etch primer:

  6. Did a little welding today. Edge of front 1/4 now all welded up.

    Inside the A pillar:

    Old captive nut that was just a little too 'soft':

    New bit wot i made to fill the gap.

  7. Bit of rot behind top hinge.

    Cut out and awaiting some more metal to be welded in.

    Holey spare wheel well batman. >:D

    Rotten scuttle corner and bonnet hinge mount.

  8. Top hinge mount welded up and A pillar gutter seam rebuilt:

    Other side of seam:

    Wing mounting captive nut welded into place:

    Engine lid catch plate welded on better.

  9. Top hinge mount done and skimmed with filler.

    Welds on edge of front 1/4 ground down and skimmed.

  10. Rust cured and seam sealed my replacement from clip.

    Gave it a coat of etch then remembered to cut the hole for access to steering box adjustment. Made some cover plates to seal them up.

  11. Decided to brave the cold and chop the front off today.

    Looks strange without a spare wheel well.

  13. mine did but its looking a lot better now. you will soon be there.. keep up the good work.
     
  14. Bit scary cutting such a big chunk of steel off the car.
     
  15. Trial fitted the new front panels:

    Fits fairly well. Will need a little trimming and tidying to get the fit perfect but i'm happy with it.

    Cut the rotten rear valance off today:

    Bumper mounts are OK which is nice.:)

  16. New rear valance needs a little work on a few dents but its 100 times better than the original one and only cost me £16 posted.

  18. I started restoring it in 2001 so i've really been a lazy bugger.:oops:
     
  19. Keep at it dude the summers coming and the days are getting longer
     
  20. Planning on getting it done for Tatton Park in August as that was the last show i went to in it in 2000.
    Got a few days of helping a mate do some demolition work which should pay for a gazebo or something to work under (and maybe some of the bits i still need).:)
