  1. Freed up, cleaned and painted the pedals before reassembling.

I seem to be missing bags of stuff i took off it years ago. God knows where i put them.

  2. Still slogging away on the old bug when time allows but the added bonus of having a garage to work in means i've got more done this year than i had in the past 3.:D

    Chopped all this out:
    2015-08-08 16.09.53.jpg 2015-08-08 16.10.03.jpg

    And replaced it with this:
    2015-07-24 15.55.49.jpg

So it looks like this now.:D

  3. Replaced the tops of the front 1/4 panels with some solid donor cuts as they'd been filled with filler at some point.

Finally got around to welding on the new front clip i was given too.

I had to make the tank supports as they weren't the same as the original ones so wouldn't match up.

  4. Been having fun getting the final piece of the front end jigsaw to fit as it should.

Yet another great fitting klokkerholm panel that i had to cut apart and remake.

Did some fillering and made a ******* poor job of folding the A pillar seam today.:(

It might come good once i've tracked down my hammer and dollies as the garage fairies are hiding stuff again.

Next job is to tackle these few holes in the top of the rear bulkhead.
    2015-08-07 16.08.13.jpg
Bit irritating as the rest of the bulkhead looks like this:
    2015-08-07 16.07.54.jpg
Got the engine bay side panels to replace as i think the ones i originally made look shocking and gonna replace the panels at the bottom of the bulkhead that hold the engine bay seal over the gearbox.

  6. you could get a strip of metal roll it round a wooden brush shast will give you a good round profile to work to replace top edge ,just a thought :rolleyes:o_O;)

  7. Cheers. Really pleased with how the dash and scuttle turned out. Had to drill out bloody hundreds of spot welds that were holding the two parts together as i couldn't fit the dash and scuttle as one piece due to the windscreen pillars getting in the way.

The top of the bulkhead is a weird shape. I'm thinking of drilling out the spotwelds from the engine bay side and cutting along the top of the bulkhead just below the curve and making a new channel bit by bending it over some box section steel or wood.

I got sent this piccy of how it all fits together.

MY GOD!!! I've just come across this thread and read it from the beginning. I am seriously amazed at your tenacity and you're really good at this bodywork stuff but, I don't believe I could ever fall in love with a car enough to even contemplate doing that amount of work for that many years.
I reckon you're gonna be petrified to drive it out on the road when it's all finished.

  9. Looks like you'll be finished before me. I am literally getting ten minutes here and there at the minute. The engine has been in bits for over twelve months. Apart from a look over that's all it's missing for and mot. Very frustrating
    Keep at it

I'm the same as sANDYbAY. I've just taken about a half an hour going through the whole thread.
Keep up the good work! Most wouldn't even consider doing a car that was this bad.

  11. Tempted to rally it when its done. Something i've always wanted to do.
It was never gonna be a show car just something useable.

I started it in 2001 so its probably the slowest resto in the world.:p

Cheers. It was my first bug. Couldn't bear to part with it. It probably wasn't that bad until a restorer got hold of it and royally screwed it up. :(

  12. Seam sealed the welds today after i'd let the bonda primer have a week to dry.

Quick piccy looking down the A pillar. Looks like it needs a hoovering out.

  13. watch that seam sealer it is highly flammable...

  14.:beer::rolleyes:wee blast of paint down there to some grease on the hindge plATES now more bother with seized screws oh and happy xmas

  15. I've just come across this thread as well. Its a wonderful example of a project restoration. Its a great story and the car is coming along nicely. Well done.

  16. I only ever use seam sealer once i've finished welding anywhere near it. I've seem those 1kg tins go up like a roman candle with a welding or grinding spark.
Gonna spray some stone chip down the inside of the pillar as thats all i have onhand in aerosol form. The hinge plates will need a tap running through them i think as theres probably a wee bit of rust in the threads.

  17. Bit of bonda primer chucked on the inside of the 1/4 panel.

Some satin black on the outside. Gonna stone chip it eventually.

  18. Looking good  Your welding has come on a lot over the last 4 years :)

  19. Some of the stuff i welded up originally will need doing again as i'm not that pleased with it. A few of the welds in the engine bay were popped off with just a screwdriver.

A good earth clamp, spotlessly clean steel for the earth to attach to and rust free elding wire helps a helluva lot. ;)

  20. Floorpan is just a wee bit shot. :(

Face of framehead and bottom are both holed:

    Napoleons hat is holed too:

Floor in front of pedals is missing:

Passengers side front 1/2 is split along the weld at the spine.:

Few little holes above the jacking point on passengers side:

Really need a solid replacement chassis but the last one i saw was a grand. :(
    Not sure what to do.
