Morks Type 4 1800 AP engine project

    its straight now, I popped a tube on it earlier today :) well my boss did ask me to hang about for five minutes :D

  2. Is the thermostat you've fitted ok? It looks expanded to me which I think means it's a duffun (unless it's hot). I'm a confused novice so probably talking testicles.

    Good point, I did think about testing it the other day but forgot..Ill have a look tomorrow, see if it works or not. I did buy the set up as working but cant be sure! Thx for the reminder :D
     
  5. The thermostat should expand when hot, and that one does look fully expanded so will have no travel left. You might have to replace it with a type 1 thermostat and do a small mod to fit the cable.
    A friend gave me a good tip - you can test the thermostat in situ with a hot air gun, both to heat it up and cool it down.

    Yes I know how they work, we have the equipment to test the 'stat, its on my to do list shortly!!

    :lol: the calibrated blow lamp failed to move it, nor did the vortex tube air blower to chill it back down again!

    its buggered :D

  9. My money is on the bellows being split, Ive got a couple of knackered ones here like that, don't know why ive kept them. Just a hoarder I guess

    Im not planning on running the motor without the flaps, I now have a few choices of what to do!

  16. VWH do genuine VW ones for £69.50. Requires a modification but I think it's a no brainer.
