Front calliper was seized solid. I had to use heat to undo the bolts, but even then, I couldn't get it off as the pad was attached to the disc.
Ended up smashing it off with a hammer.
Think I'm going to buy all new anyway.
2" dropped spindles, new discs, and callipers.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    More good skills there.

Good to see it’s still moving at pace.

It took some scraping to get all the black crap of the underneath

Looking good. What are you finishing the underside with? Are you spraying or brushing?

Brushing zinc phosphate primer then synthetic enamel gloss.

After much removal of South African dirt and sand, I did mine with Rustoleum grey primer and then a satin black top coat.

It was a long and messy job - had the whole family chipping in - but it was worth it and it has stood up well.

While I was under there, I removed every bolt I could see. Gave it good clean with a wire brush and replaced with a hint of copper slip.

Not sure if this is a good thing to do but it paid dividends when I later came to fit a brake servo and a new master cylinder.

I had a hell of a job removing that calliper. I just hope the other side comes off easier.
I used rustolium on my camper interior cab floor 4 years on, and there's signs of rust probably because it's cream, so it shows up more.
This time, I decided to use the synthetic enamel as 20 years ago I had the pleasure of painting over 8000ft of handrails on southport pier and the Royal blue we used was synthetic enamel so if it stands up to the sea and all that salt I thought why not use it on the underside.
They also use it on metal bathtub repairs.

Almost painted all the underneath just above the gearbox to do.
I'm not sure about the green yet, Jane likes it.
Sorted out the 2ft hole along the bottom of the front panel and refitted the headlamp/ screen wash system with all new piping, although once it was all back together, I discovered it doesn't work.
She's a 79, so has wash wipe, but when I pull the leaver, I hear the relay click, but nothing happens. It looks like the wiper motor is seized, I did test the screen wash pump, and that worked but I couldn't test the headlamp pump as it has quite thick cables and the wires I had to hook it up with just got hot with no response from the pump and the screen wash runs through the headlamp pump too.
From what I've read, when you pull the leaver, the wipers go before the water? Then, if you have the headlamps on, it also washes them.

    Looking great!

My 76 column stalks had a washer function but no wires in the available guides for the pump. I added a power and ground to the two available positions to make the pump work.

In operation, it was squirt and turn the wipers on, not automatic, which seemed to be correct to me unless there was some more fancy relays and additional wiring involved in the factory install.

I was looking out for an intermittent relay but they seem like hens teeth!

  17. Nope, they're readily available. I'll find a link. Not too difficult to wire in if you're handy with a crimper.

  19. If you get stuck in, not too hard to do. Well worth having intermittent and wash/wipe if you've got electric washers
