Yeh I was wondering how long the leisure battery would run the headlights for if I wire them to that, leisure battery is completely independent and charges off solar panel, not much use at night but even if I could get an hour extra at night on Sunday to get a bit further up the coast it would help. Got 8.50 am tunnel Monday morning, luckily it gets light about 4.30 but it’s a good 5 hr drive up to Calais in a bus!
Anyway , we’re here , I’m knackered and I’m on holiday now so I’m having a beer and not worrying too much about it
Hope they improved the loo and shower facilities from 2018 , 6 showers for 3000 souls When we did the Classic the ferry was cancelled at Le Havre so we drove to Calais to catch ferry to Dover . 9hrs of driving that day with the bus stalling at every junction from Dover to home That was knackering and no fun ….. I fortunately can laugh about it now Enjoy the racing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Its probably the alternator brushes not the regulator in the first case. Parallel up the batteries during the day if you have working solar, and to buy yourself driving time.. maybe you will have to do that to get it started too.. Then fit a VSR when you get back so that happens automatically . And next time do a shakedown trip after changing something . .. before the major holiday trip.. It's a too common theme "drove my bus for more than 50 miles for the first time since garage time (storage or maintenance visit) ... and something has gone wrong..."
Starts fine every time, alternator is giving out 13.9/14 with the old regulator. I was led to believe these new regulators should be better! Might try putting the old one back on as I chucked it in the spare wheel well. It’s been giving a mild glow at night for 5 years I just rarely drive at night
Two thing you have changed recently are the headlamps and the regulator so I’d imagine your problem may be linked to either of those?
Bit of both probably, I’ll go through it all inc new alternator when we get back. I can do the return to the tunnel in daylight hours even if we need to move the time forwards a bit. Got all day Monday to get home, it’s only 550 miles
It’s evolved, he’s been busy, got an electric chainsaw made a handrail for the ladder and safety barriers for the platform
The French Arrows have just buzzed over but I wasn’t quick enough with the camera, got the Goodyear airship earlier though
It was still running at the end but I think it spent quite some time in the pits, and his right rear brake light wasn’t working last time he passed
