It’s the Centenary year this year anyone else going? We’ve just had to rearrange last minute thanks to Britney Ferries, were going Portsmouth-LeHarve 11pm Tuesday but they’ve delayed that sailing 12 hours. Which would mean all Wednesday spent travelling which is no use to us so so we’ve cancelled and booked the Chunnel, an extra 300 miles of driving but at least we’ll be there Wednesday morning. Alex has got full Press Accreditation so will be spending most of the weekend behind the scenes away from us general riffraff, we’ll just provide a tent alongside the bus and food when he wants Really looking forward to this one though.
should be fun. i went loads about 20 yrs go with a bunch of mates in fast cars. would love to do it again camping in the bus
Here’s a good place I’ve used several times 48°08'36.6"N 0°11'02.3"E https://maps.app.goo.gl/RYTK9BVDeqNQhWRJ8?g_st=ic
Got off the tunnel and the bus decided it didn’t like driving in the dark, started kangarooing when I turned the lights on so as it was midnight decided to Kip in a little car park near Wissant which we’ve used before and get up early in the morning! Drove beautifully today for 250ish miles and we’re here now. Set up camp where we did last time, 20 feet from the track just before Porsche curves.
Spotted this on the Samba "I encountered the same issue not too long ago. I found the reason being that my aftermarket headlights were of higher wattage and would make my headlight switch get hot. In return, the connector that ran from the headlight switch to the ignition expanded over a period of time between getting hot and cooling off and the connection was loose. If I played with the wire, you can literally see it short out. I replaced this connector with a new one that had a tighter fit and problem solved for the mean time. I still need to install my relay's for my headlights to take some of the stress off my headlight switch." Something to consider...but you're the mechanic
Not sure Malc, tested the alternator pre trip and fitted a new regulator as per @theBusmonkey recommendation. Drives beautiful in daylight but the minute I put headlights and to a lesser degree sidelights bus starts spluttering and dash light is glowing!
