This is the one I purchased: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-Way-Cir...-Fuse-Box-Holder-With-GND-DC32V-/361012649588 Swapped it over from the old 4 way one in about an hour. Although the seller is in Shenzhen, China, it was with me within two weeks of ordering! Very happy with it.
Well I grew up in the steel industy and it looks a little light weight, does not have a single +ve bus connection and all connections are spade connections! Have a negative attitude to life LOL ........... though would not fit if I though it would not be adequate for the task. My intension is: Fuse 1 12 volt cigarotte style socket Fuse 2 12 volt sigarotte style socket (for cool box) Fuse 3 12 volt to 240 volt 300w socket (via invertor) Fuse 4 12 volt LED lighting All via 110AH Leisure batter.
Another question! I remember @mikedjames mentioned(can't find it now) a special split charge thingy that was a super fandango charger thing, what was that again?
My "botch" will be feed from leauser bat to 30A chock block where I will loop, then down to the fuse block feeds. .... cheap and cheerful.. Oh and the same principal for the groud return!
i fitted a split charge a while back, voltage sensing so no need to get a signal off the alternator. simple to fit aslong as you look at size of wire and fuses. read @matty right up on electrics,he knows his stuff. big red wire off main battery to 60amp fuse to self switching relay, big red wire to another 60amp fuse wire to battery. new earth next to battery. red wire to 8 way fuse box under r&r then to what you need it for, radio, lights, coolbox etc. the four way plug shown does it have a on off switch on it or not, mine did so i cut that off and rewired it next to the push button for sink tap in the front of the cabinet.
Sorry if im being daft but why only 30A? If the alt is 55A doesn't it need to be slightly bigger than that?
It's more what the battery will pull as opposed to what the alt. can provide. I have my batteries split charge setup protected by 39 amp fuses and they have never blown. It's only if the leisure battery gets really flat that it can pull high current and it shouldn't really get as high as 30 amps. @matty will be better to answer, read his thread on how to wire in a split charge relay
30 amp fuse may just be ok, unless your leisure battery is drained low and the it'll probably blow the fuse when it switches to charge it. if you have a 110ah battery it won't last long..........................
