Of course you chose the county of the gods for your boiler purchase ( Worcestershire sauce, Kidderminster carpets, Stourbridge crystal ) You name it we made it and to a high standard. Unfortunately you now have German owners making your boiler and the quality is going downhill like the other manufacturers mentioned who have all been bought out and the quality compromised. Even Malvern water is diluted by inferior Russian snow, found that out just this week coincidentally.
So have you fixed it yet @snotty? Or has the snowboarding hipster gasman been called? Or have you frozen to death? If the latter, first dibs on his camper.
All done. Ignition timeout. Remedy: turn the whole thing off, then on again . I've given him a stiff talking to.
Quick tot up. Between myself and two mates we have sorted just over thirty frozen condensate pipes today. Luckily half of mine I got sorted over the phone. First call was 6.10am this morning. Last call (so far) was 8.20pm.
Locally a chap reported that his digital weather station thingy in his garden was showing -12 in the early hours last night, I don’t know how accurate these things are. My van temp gauge read -6.8 at 7pm last night and that was only about an hour after dark, so I guess -12 could have been possible. No wonder condensate pipes are freezing up.
I’ve got to say, my last boiler served me for 15 years, and it faithfully broke down and necessitated a visit from British Gas at least twice every winter (and for once I’m not exaggerating!)I’m probably one of the few people who actually got their monies worth from a Home Care agreement, and the damn thing was like Triggers Broom by the end of it. Most of its woes were certainly not helped by living it’s life in my roof space, but there’s no room anywhere else anymore so that’s where it resides. The Worcester replacement specifically said it was happy in roofs and garages, and so far...... This is it’s 2nd winter, and it’s getting a good work out this last week or so.
Having been a British Gas contract engineer, knowing the standard of a lot of their work and knowing what parts cost, I can promise you that no one gets their monies worth from a home care agreement.
As I’m still snowed in and showing no desire to dig my van out I have been telling folk by phone how to fix their frozen condensate . I did bravely walk to my neighbours to sort his - but only after he had been round twice to our house
