If you are open to an android phone I would go for the latest moto G. Can pick them up for £100-120 without a contract and they are a decent phone. If you don't like it it's not a huge sum to risk
Just buy a wireless USB dongle on a data plan and stick it in your current laptop. Internet the same as you have now just without a cable, keep your current phone. worry about it in 6 months when you have a, moved b, finished you bus c, have a bit more time and spare cash from the house sale. simples
I h&(ked a dongle in spain and used a laptop as a wifi network . Paid 12 euro month , unlimited usage Use a generic dial up number and it wont count down the megabites ...secrets not to use the providers number , only the card , An ipad is a totally diferent thing than a laptop . Much more efficient, good resale . And theres no breaking of the bank .
just bought my lad a samsung galaxy on tesco mobile £12.50 month with 500minutes 5000 txts and 0.5 gig data .....inc phone
Gif Gaf is good but be warned you cannot tether to them. Unless they have chnaged in the last month. EDIT : Looks like you can now with cerrain packages but looks to be very restrictive indeed with unauthorised tethering clauses. Complicated.
If you have access to qvs Web page . Lolook on there. I saw them with a 8 or 9 inch tablet with wifi and also took a sim card for a phone . Was a bargain for the price of around 85 pound . This was around 2 weeks ago . Sounds like what your after
I had a wireless hotspot creator, enough for 5 devises. It costs £25 for 7 gb with a month time limit. My mrs and kids used it up in 6/7 days on average. This was on 3 network. Check your usage and the costs!
I have previously used a dongle that just plugged into my laptop, when we moved house. Think it was t mobile, a 3 month period of unlimited data. Price was reasonable. Ideal solution for times like this
If you get a dongle or hot spot device, tell them that you want the data capped so it stops if you over use it during the monthly period as the rates if you go over are high. You can also do PAYG to avoid this problem, but you get a lot less data for your £ on PAYG.
If you are not looking for the latest model iPad the refurbished ones are not that old, have a warranty and can be (a bit) cheaper... http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad
I just went thru the same thing with my brother I told him go giffgaff with the latest moto g phone and latest Samsung galaxy tab both take mini sdsx cards and you can get 64gb cards for £15 So you have the best of both world cloud and hard backup Tether the phone to the tablet job done
i use smoke signal 4 old gits it works ok but not if its windy. I used to have bt mobile broadband dongle just stuffed it in side of my laptop and you can use hotspots aswell with it but that was seven years ago
I didn't know what an ipad was for years, despite my kids trying to teach me .....I always thought this was what they were talking about
Went to john Lewis, they got a cupboard were they keep all the returns....they have fantastic returns attitude. Got a sim iPad Air for about £150 less, 32gb. You have to ask them where it is, it obviously not obvious. Had it now year and half. Goes everywhere with me still best purchase for years. Pays for itself easy. Got a little dumb phone now with buttons, and 1 week battery life. Too fiddly to do internet on phone. Makes you blind. Ipad can contribute to that too
