We went for cloth and as mentioned earlier on larger cushions begins to lose shape. We will be going leather look vinyl next and be using a memory foam topper.
@Barneyrubble how you planning on fixing seat cushion if reversible as thats our plan. going to local interior resto place next week.
To faff, or not to faff: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The burns and sweatiness of shiny vinyl, Or to take online advice against a slippy bed, And use Alcantara for comfort. To sleep:
If you have little ones, I would go for vinyl without hesitation. In the short time of having the original cloth covers they became stained with drink, mud, sweets, urine!!! etc etc etc
Going back to your original question, I used white vinyl on my pop top headlining. Stretched over the frame and folded over at the edges, secured with spring clips that I saved from the old covering. There is then a piece of black trim that goes all round the edge. Hard to see in my photo I'm afraid.
Me? I'd not take small children And I'd eat like a grown up without chucking food all over myself and the furniture.
Oh, how I wish to do that. But I made that life decision and I have to live with it for the next 12 years or so.
not sure what you mean?? our cushions arnt fixed , we have 3/4 bed and we use double bed cotton duvet cover and put all our cushions inside that , ie fit over back cargo cushion then when make bed put seat back in long ways and seat bottom in long ways , this makes for more comfortable bed too as just one join cross ways .
ours have tie backs holding to r and r bed which are flimsey. just want something that wont slide if have to do emergency stop when kids are seat belted in. velcro has been thought about but if using both sides of cushion you will see one when used as seat if that makes any sense.
ah i see , dont use ours as just the two of us camp soo not prob , you can get those handle/cushion holders that go up infront of the cushion that stop them sliding ?
Material every time . Vinyl just gets too clammy in my opinion .... Thick upholsery material , 4" foam with just a cotton sheet over the top and a double duvet . All folds up on top of itself and stores above the engine . Absolutely no faf and you don`t have to find homes for toppers , pillows etc . Couldn`t be easier
swat we have at mo , if you get proper upholstry fab and stitched proper it is great . Ive seen duo and it is good too . for the messy pups
Leather was ok. I wouldn't fancy vinyl. So what if the ankle biter sick's on it? Not the end of the world is it? Probably been sick on everything else you own by now...
I'm going for material in mine but having zips on the covers so they can be put in the washing machine How many modern motor homes and caravans do you see with vinyl upholstery
