  4. We have gone for a material called Impala. It is like the kevlar of coverings. Very tough and put up with 10k rubs.

    Its a simple thing.

Vinyl is wipeable. The only ageing it will show is crease marks if it is cheap, but if it is nice premium faux leather vinyl, you will never get these. It is harder wearing and more resistant. Sleeping on it does cause some sweating, however, you would be sleeping with a blanket between you and the vinyl, so make a wise blanket choice, one that has moisture wicking properties or breathability in mind.

Material attracts dirt, grime, oil, stains, is not tear resistant, ages quickly with use. However there is a lot more choice, looks nicer, feels nicer, and the list goes on. The majority of the benefits of Material are superficial/apperance based, and not function respective.

Go for vinyl, and get a nice thick blanket made up like a throw in a material of your choice and just have it over the seat when it isnt used as a bed. That way you get the look you want, but if you dirty the material you can wash it easily.

  8. Newton commercial did mine and have leather in front and vinyl in the back which they matched perfectly. Whilst it is wearing really well I regret the vinyl though as is very sweaty. It's better now I bought a 3/4 width wool mattress topper thing it's about 40mm thick which wicks away the sweatiness but on a hot day does smell a bit sheepy.

  9. +1 for vinyl, can't comment on the comfort or wear as mine is new and I've not had the chance to camp in it yet.

  10. vinyl for reasons @PSG says, the cover for sleeping on needs to be there though at night as you sweat like a ______ in a _______. Equally no cover can work for you too if you are partaking in anything where the "easy clean" option is still required afterwards..... ;)

I've had material covers in all my vans and been fine. I think vinyl/faux leather look smart and prob much easier to clean but they just don't look comfy to me :)

This thread I think has convinced me to go material when I do mine.

As I've mentioned earlier I'm not overly impressed with the quality of workmanship on our covers so I might get them redone by somebody else in the near future.
I will probably change to material when I do.

  14. I put vinyl on mine a few years back for the same reasons as everyone else. It's been great especially as it's got really dirty whilst having work done, transporting stuff and from camping. Just so easy to clean. I've never had a problem with it being to hot as I have an over size throw which I put on it and tuck down the sides on bed mode.

Had vinyl in mine for 5 years.............we sleep in a double sleeping bag, so no problems with sticking.......it was a bit cold though over New Year when bag unzipped and I found myself on vinyl !

  17. Can I have picture of a devon poptop inner roof so I can see how it should be fixed.

Vinyl covers with fabric inserts. We use a memory foam topper under a sheet to lose the vinyl on skin feeling!

  19. Go for vinyl and pack an extra blanket/mattress/sleeping bag.
Increase the faff and bother involved in making bed.
    Or choose fabric and relax.
