Not just the badge, although I do have one somewhere, but the courses.
Did mine in ‘77, on my MKII Red Raleigh Chopper.
I haven’t seen children in groups with a teacher, doing Cycling Proficiency courses for a good few decades. Why’s that? It’s there first foray into road use and should be compulsory, imho.

 

because kids don’t ride bikes anymore. I do miss Christmas morning when you hear the squealing brakes of new bikes

I was presented with my certificate by Harold Wilson MP for Huyton Merseyside in about 1965, can’t remember if he was PM then.

 

Our primary skool do cycle proficiency in our street...

 

I think it goes on still, I just don’t see them do it…

 

Yup see them frequently and all dressed up in their hi vis too. I wouldn’t want to be in charge of a bunch of kids and bikes and traffic all at 5he same time. Give em loads and loads of room.

A friend of mine had a pedal backwards brake on his BMX when they became popular. I could never get the hang of them. I bet you wish you had that Schwinn now.

Forget the Schwinn have you seen what old skool BMXs like Hutch , Haro and PK Rippers go for !
