Made in Britain. Tim Roths first film. Trevor the Skinhead. Look where he is now…Hollywood Star. I think Gary Oldman started off as a Skinhead in a film made here, too.
Also Russell Crowe with Romper Stomper .Maybe playing a skinhead is the way to become a Hollywood star !
I would have thought you wouldn't be old enough to be a skinhead ..or were you like Thomas Turgoose in This Is England
Pretty much. ‘79 I was 11. 2Tone was a big influence in our schools then with records like Baggy Trousers. Once you get into it, you start listening to older stuff. My musical journey started with things like Mud , Queen and the Wombles, like most people my age. Then when you went to school, you tend to listen to the stuff that your ‘new friends’ listen to, to ‘fit in’. Know what I mean? Still love a bit of Ska, now…
I'm not far off from you ! My older sister influence introduced me to Two Tone and I clearly remember going to see Dance Craze in Reading at a young age . Prior to that it was Bay City Rollers , John Denver and Irish folk music (Dubliners , Chieftains etc ) .My first live music recollection was a folk-ish band called The Yeties at a local farm .I think I was about 7 or 8 maybe .
Not often . It was quite a simplistic film and great live footage aimed at a young audience .Would like to see it now but wish it had interviews with the bands .
The beat, Bad Manners, and Neville Staples, The Selector still play here, from time to time. I go and watch them, along with all the ‘Old Boy local Skins’.
