I dont hunt foxes but it made me laugh that they made hunting a fox with hounds illegal yet you could still snare them?? Crackers and nothing to do with animal welfare.

  4. I often send beaters into the local council estate. Bagged a brace of druggies and a benefits claimant. Not a bad day. I normally let them hang for a few months before eating them.

Is there an English recipe for fox? I know there's a French one cos Peter Mayle wrote about it in his book and his neighbour. Rivieur brought him a fox and the drained blood of one to cook!

  9. Whilst I was working as an equestrian constructor I saw a lot of these fox hunt people when they are not in the public eye.
A lot of the head men and women should not be allowed near animals.
They are truly vile people who have no respect for their quarry. Or fellow humans in some cases.

  10. i know one day I am going to hit a deer in the landy ,the country lanes are full of them ,8 years ago I would have phone my French neighbour for assistance or try to push the deer to the edge of the road...:(

Now it will go in the back and I will take it home and skin it in the garage..:D

Attitudes change ,when you live in the country...

In what ways does the local economy benefit? Just wondering. If fox hunting benefits the local community presumably its in a measurable way that can't be achieved by other means.

Apart from the fact that if the fox does manage to elude a pack of snarling dogs each one twice its size, and eventually get back to its earth . . . . The gamekeepers blocked all the entrances.

The unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible.

  14. There is a whole industry based around hunting, not just the Huntsman, hounds, kennels, etc. Point to Point races derive from the same people, Cheltenham Festival is still called the National Hunt. Then there's the flesh wagon that travels round disposing of dead and diseased animals, vets, farriers, stables, grooms, etc etc etc.
I should say that I speak from experience not the tabloids but I should also say that personally I don't agree with it on a moral stance, however there are a lot of things that are morally reprehensible, most of which we ignore as a society.

  15. Hunting animals for sport i.e. killing things for fun! I'm afraid I don't understand it or the people that would do that. Why? Some sort of mental disorder? Most I have come across aren't particularly nice people.

Hunting animals for food. Seems a natural thing to do if its your way of life.

Killing animals to protect your livelihood. Justifiable in many cases if true. Do it humanely or employ someone that can do it efficiently.

Keeping livestock for whatever reason. Do it with compassion.

    Fishing. ?

Road kill - each to their own eh!

Fair enough, but those things don't rely on fox hunting to continue do they? What I mean is they didn't disappear when fox hunting was outlawed did they?

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

Not looking for argument but I thought it was really more about the weekend Henrys not giving a flying fish about it all playing at his Lordship for the weekend that buggered it up.

Also the claim it was pest control, obviously foexs are only a part in summer.

As for the tradition well just cause it a tradition don't make it right.

On a personal note my only dealinGs with a hunt is when I was a young builderman and one turned up in a village, dogs let loose then peed and Marmite in my sand so I told the *****ers to move their *****ing animals off my *****ing sand or I'd use my *****ing shovel. They understood and moved to other side of village.

They shoot dear around these parts.

Absolutely. Thankfully, as far as I've read so far on here, no one has used that old chestnut "tradition" as an excuse. Bear baiting and such were once "traditional".
