looking at the latest weather forecast for Paupong NSW, suggests calm winds and cool temperatures for this week and it says the air is smoky today but followed by clear skies and some rain next week. That sounds better.
Not nice to think it could be on its way to you again mate. You seem a good way from the woods though and with the precautions you are taking hopefully will be okay
Due to the drought there's been an inability to do controlled burns as there hasn't been enough moisture in the bush.
Tomorrow everything moves up a notch, we're pulling our information from the RFS in NSW and the CFA in Victoria. Extreme conditions are forecast for late tomorrow and Saturday.
@mgbman these are the fires of greatest concern to us as our property runs right down to the Victorian border and the are coming right our way.
None of this enterprise will be lost I guess...you could plant trees in the ploughed bits to make up for the ones lost It’s IKEA furniture build or distract myself on here I’m afraid. I shall be making more handy ‘hack’ suggestions as time goes on.
No, it's too dry to safely burn. There has to be a high moisture content for a safe and controlled burn, lots of smoke but little fire and fury.
At the moment it's Northerly but a Southerly is expected this evening. We don't want the Southerly or strong wind from the NW, as that's where the worst of the fires are ( uncontained and uncontrolled).
Forget fires for a mo and get on to important topics. Has your mug got pictures of fishes with whales inside? ps if you return to Blighty for summer hols you could come to Fairport at Cropredy. I will buy you a beer so will @Jack Tatty im sure if he’s there again
