Buy it. I love mine but was going to sell it after finishing work but couldn't bear to part for the money being offered so kept it, it's currently sorned.
Avoid the 195, 5 speed and get the 231bhp, 6 speed with the projector headlamps, which nod when you switch them on.

Two urban myths - fuel and oil consumption. Low 20s for the fuel which is comparable with other high performance cars of the same age - you push a 2.7 Boxster to keep up with an RX8 and the fuel consumption will be similar; a gentle little bell rings at 9000 rpm to suggest sir changes gear - how very polite, so Japanese. Oil consumption isn't anything like as bad either just don't use fully synthetic.

I bought mine because I wanted to have the rotary experience and haven't regretted it. It is an unbelievable engine and makes piston engines look, well Victorian. Road tax is more expensive for '56 and later plates though.
