13k 2 years ago no issues apart from a failed fuel pump (touch wood) spent a bit on it new interior, stereo, awning, roof rack ,inverter etc think i've sold it but had some fun and the itch has been scratched so on to something new. Prob a 914 or 356 speedster rep next
What set up was yours originally? I'd certainly be interested if yours was originally a fully submersible pump?
Ah - totally different to the old T2s then - but it may still be possible put another pump in the fuel line to lift the fuel out through the duff pump.
I paid £7k for mine in 2010, spend around £5k getting rust sorted, and a fair bit more tearing the heart out of it. It was my dads bus, so it was dropping the soap in the shower type of negotiation tbh.
i love the way we all cough the price with no shame (those who didn't have been duly noted) it's like being a member of a crap club... oh. even though i paid relatively little for mine, there was still a lot to be done and a lot of bodges to undo.... my brother tried to work out how much i'd spent a few years ago (without all the receipts i've diligently kept but never added up!) and he got to £12k . oops
mine was a chicken shed on a farm in liverpool..... who knew chicken poo was so corrosive (not i) and that farmers would use chicken wire, newspaper and crap filler to mend holes (not i)
£6500 8 years ago after we struggled to find anything reasonably local that looked half decent. I should have known better as it had all the hallmarks of dodgy repairs under bucket loads of filler and that black waxoyl gunge. I'll blame the wife as she surprised me when she announced she fancied one - although she reminds me a lot that she would have sold it instead of fixing it Pah, what does she know
500 of your english pounds I remember turning down a prototype bay for 110 pounds with mot failure sheet...(but I think at the time I had 5) most expensive was one on vzi 2300, but that was a beautiful example ,besides having no floor or engine ,should have kept that...
I paid £4.60 for the bus yesterday, it was half that for my daughter's ticket. It was an all day "rover" though so good value.
£9000 in 2014, Californian Westy never welded. I've spent around a grand on it since, I'm not too unhappy as it was the first one I looked at and I've heard some horror stories.
I got my bus by swapping my first wife for it. She was also married to someone else by that time as well.
Apparently another good way to raise funds for a Bay is to sell your children for medical experiments. Useful to know if your funds won't quite stretch to that mint Westy Berlin you've had your eye on for a while.
