How many languages can you speak? (aside from English)

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by top banana racing, Nov 19, 2015.

  1. I learned Russian when younger, cant speak it really but apparently I do when im asleep. At least some of it is intelligible and makes sense. No 1 daughter is the language master in our house and whilst camping last year I was shouting in Russian during the night. No idea what I said and I don't think I know many swear words.

The intelligent answer would of course have been "are you a sleeper"

  8. German well (used to be fluent, but don't get the practice in any more), basic French and Italian although I can follow a conversation in both.

  9. I looked on Google Translate - they don't do Brizzle yet. Might do in the future, if there's a demand for it.

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

I'm BRITISH so no need to learn a lower language, anyway the world speaks a form of English as we learned them when we run the world.

Apart from a couple of English dialects, German (Sud Deutsch) & Scottish Gaelic & a bit of Mandarin, Cantonese & Hoklo Chinese, a little Japanese & an array of cursing in Arabic.

  14. You do know that phrases like "You numba one johnny, get extra long time" is English, not a foreign language?

  15. Mama-san in Kobe said things like that...didn't know you'd been to Japan...have we met before? Not the chap who used to leave his brogues outside by any chance.;) :burp:

  16. Did the earth move for you in Kobe? It often does, literally :).

My lasting impression of Japan was a battery torch holder beside my bed, together with a cheery sign saying "In Case Of Earthquake, Do Not Worry!"
