I've been 'scrooge' since the second day of secondary school, age 11..... as I 'politely declined' to share my 10p plastic cup of vending machine cola with a girl I'd just met in the lunch queue.
She announced to everyone that "You're a bit of a scrooge, aren't you?" and somehow it stuck! We've been friends ever since :D
When I first started needing some form of online moniker, I used 'scrooge' - but it seemed that quite often there was already someone with that name, so the 95 got bunged on as it's my house number.

  9. That's the pseudonym that REM used to go by when they did warm up concerts for the release of 'Out of Time'.

I have one of the concerts bootlegs on vinyl, somewhere.

  10. Surely you mean a Gen-Z. And of course a Millennial would faint at the mere notion.
Us Gen-X'ers are heading into retirement now, and the rapidly approaching prospect of volunteering at the local charity shop is not something I'm looking forward to.

When my daughter saw the bus for the first time, for some strange and unfathomable reason, she immediately Christened it Fruitcake .

I’m a bit disappointed that that my daughter hasn’t replied “ ok Boomer!” to me at any point….. where did I go wrong? :(
