How long does it take to drive to Malaga?

We are taking the van to Malaga and have a Eurotunnel crossing at 8-20pm this Saturday evening. I don't want to hammer it but am expecting to drive all day every day. How many days would you expect to take to get to Malaga? Google maps says it is about 1600 miles and 29 hours from Manchester. Any tips from those who have driven in Spain? Would you cross into Spain on the Atlantic side (ie Biarritz/Bordeaux) or the Med side (ie via Barcelona)?

 

Wow hardcore! No idea but be careful in southern spain as can get really hot down there.

I'd set off now, it'll take you 3 days to get around the M25.

@Sick Boy , We have done both & if I was going straight to Malaga in the shortest/easiest time for the bus I'd head for Bordeaux, Bayonne, Vitoria Gastez, Salamanca, Merida, Seville & Malaga.

It seems a long way round (but actually isn't) but the roads are quiet & good quality & you avoid the horror & climb up into Madrid which gets v.v. hot in summer.

 

BTW, I'd allow 3 days once you hit the continent for a less stressful journey, overnighting around Bordeaux & again at Salamanca. Big miles every day Sickboy.

 

I've no idea how long to Malaga but it took me five days to drive from here to Malta in an old van.

I've just google mapped that, epic drive. I admire people that have the stones to do things like that. I'd worry in a modern car (with A/C) let alone a 40 year old bus. I wish I was more adventuress. looking forward to some pictures.

 

Do you plan on using the highway? If so avoid the French A10 during week days. There can be lot of HGVs on this road, which can make the journey less enjoyable.

LOL, we've done Murcia to Dunkirk in 2 days in the bus, up the coast...but it was stresssss.
Travelling at night as well, & I think we got about 4 hours kip.
The flats are OK but on a tight deadline the hills & mountains take on an entirely different perspective
