What is this "Facebook" you talk of?

 

Its all in Isaac Asimov's Foundation sci-fi trilogy. He called it psychohistory - while individuals are hard to manipulate predictably, crowds are very simple to manipulate.

Interest groups with political aims have discovered this can be done through Facebook and the like, and are starting to manipulate us.

Sadly it will probably end with 9/11 being a minor event in the big story. There is a theory that the Foundation inspired others..

Thats my basic take on it.
I have one "associate" on feckbook who is right wing for sure, however he is a first class signwriter which is the only reason I dont feck him off, I only comment on his work

 

Nazis called themselves that but i could call myself a unicorn and it wouldn’t be true either.

The right are feeling empowered by the racist uk and us governments divisive agendas and their supporting media. That’s why we’re seeing more racist posts, hate crimes, flags and nazi salutes. These folk haven’t been made bigoted by it, they always were but kept it hidden.

What I don’t get is that a lot of them supposedly hold Christian values (Jesus was definitely a socialist!) and the uk lot use patriotism and the nazi rhetoric and salutes without any sense of irony (or history).

I don’t understand why ( with due respect Malc) people moan about other people’s posts on Facebook , there are options , I choose to unfollow those that annoy me , not unfriend but unfollow - then I can choose when I want to read their posts - I have unfollowed most of the ‘ friends ‘ I have on Facebook not for any particular unsavoury posts but more for the fact that their posts dilute my newsfeed with stuff I DO want to read about ...
Those that have posted offensive posts get deleted straight away , I might not be offended but someone along the line will and I don’t wish to be associated with such posts ..

 

Malc, a few years ago I visited my cousin in PNG and one night we where racially abused by a out of town Papuan (its strange when it comes the other way). Little did the guy know my cousin was working for the government/world bank sorting out crop pest control and helping farmers to develop better ways of farming. He has since been honoured by the Queen for his services over there.

 

I’m right wing. I’m not ashamed to say it. I find a lot of lefty opinions offensive and dangerous. I also believe in one Ireland but I don’t support the ira. It’s perfectly fine to have left or right opinions. It’s the extreme nutters on the fringes of both sides that we all need to be mindful of.

 

Extremes of left want to ban the bomb, extremes of right want to blow people up but maybe this is a whole different thread.
