TBH no different to the chromed ones - I guess with the doors being Brazi ones, that made it better! The locks all work as they should but I will admit to building the whole lot up needed a more delicate touch than I have, I scratched no end of fresh paint off
nothing much to report other than the left hand cab door is scratched to ***** now built up and has all of the locks and window winder working Im not happy about the fit of the frame into the recess as it doesn't look right compared to the r/h side. The rain came earlier so we called it a day, I'll do a bit of fettling one Saturday morning
A few odds n sods got done this week, the cab door card was fitted & Im pleased with it, its not a professional covering but it will suffice The sliding door needs a bottom half reskin, upon removal of the old one, we found some rot..this was chopped out and repair sections welded in The repair panel from VW Heritage is one of the Autocraft Engineering ones, I will say its very well made and the fit is superb, they get my
we're both really exited by the progress now, its coming together really well!! We've been to see Scott at SJH Joinery for an interior, the sliding door needs finishing, roof lining, steering geometry needs setting, back end needs raising and seat belts need fitting, tyres for the BRM's and bobs yer uncle we could go for an MOT!!
just passed the 5 year mark & into #6 Major's turn for some tlc next, he's getting a bit tired round the edges!
Not had chance to do much this past couple of weeks - finally completed fitting the cab door cards, they look good. However, I did fit the new MCJ steering wheel we've had sitting round for the past two years Next step, get some insulation into the back panels and roof recesses
Greetings, this is my first post here. I might be wrong, with there being no fuel filler door and the slider lock being separate from the handle, but it looks to me like the bus is a 74 or 75 model year. I saw the vin in the old engine shelf on page 1 said it was a 73, but I think maybe that was from the orange donor that gave the engine lid. Seems it was in a rear-end collision and got the vin of a 73 back there as part of a patch... or it was a vin swap... or I could be wrong entirely.
Or you could just be wrong seeing as I have a folder full of receipts and history. If you care to search around a bit better on here you will see that there are other '73 reg buses with a cap style fuel filler, sliding door same as mine and also, whilst you are at it, its got Brazilian style doors, its really a Brazi bay in disguise!!
You can see what he means though Mark, your engine bay is all green, then there's a cut and shut weld and the rear part with the chassis number is orange.
