  1. ***Change of plan - cancelled order!

Finally took the plunge and opted for what I think is a great solution for heating....

    https://www.imaginfires.co.uk/malvern-black-bioethanol-fireplace#tab1

Its an enclosed bio ethanol burner and cost me 325 - this is the cheapest I could get. Costco have it on offer at the mo for 369 but comparable elsewhere is 399+

From the reviews it will burn for up to 5 hours on a litre which will cost about £2 per litre.....and obviously ideal for wild camping.

In terms of safety they are very safe but as is usual ill be fitting a couple of carbon monoxide detectors just to be sure.

Space wise it will fit perfectly just in front of my walk through but I do have a JURGENS so have more space than most.

Thought it was worth sharing as they do throw out heat, are silent and really cost effective when comparing with propex/hook up etc. They can create some moisture but ill have a couple of throw away soakers positioned around van

  3. yeah just click on the eBay link above buddy

  4. sorry didn't catch that ! DOH !!

  5. Looks really interesting but why isn't carbon monoxide an issue?

It weighs 25kg and looks like a log burner.
    If Carling did camper heaters.....
    (It wouldn’t be this)

  7. ha well I like it! The weight isn't ideal but I'm only 65kg so the van is probably saved that extra weight on the driver!

  8. burns vapour.....doesnt produce significant CO2 for it to be an issue.

If it burns fuel where does the “exhaust” go?
I can’t see this ending well.

  10. Exclusively designed by Imagin, our Malvern Bio Ethanol Stove. Based on a wood burner designbut with these incredible benefits:

      • No Installation needed, save up to £1500
      • No chimney or flue needed
      • Freestanding
      • Fuel Box Facts: The Malvern includes our new and exclusive bioethanol fuel box, with several market leading features including:
        • Fybrax Non-Spill technology: Absorbs all biofuel and eliminates risk of spillage. Also prolongs burn time and creates a consistent flame.
        • Bioethanol fuel box is made from high grade stainless steel and double lined for safety.
        • Integrated flame control to adjust the flame height and intensity (using the tool supplied).
        • Tested by TUV, the German world class testing laboratory, to conform to the new safety standard BS/EN 16647:2015.
        • 1 Litre capacity, burns for approximately 3.5 hours (depending on location, air flow etc).
        • Heat output: approximately 3.0 kw (same as an electric heater on medium setting).
      • Smoke free
      • 6mm Tempered Stay Clear Safety Glass (no smoke) so you can always see the flame.
      • Black coloured steel body

  12. This seems to defy the laws of physics (and chemistry). Where do the combustion products go?

    Honestly mate; go careful.
Personally I think you’ll probably kill yourself!

  15. ^this. Can we have any van spares you might have?

  16. yeah of course - no seriously we will be careful - reality is it will be used to heat van before bed but wont be left on overnight etc. If it doesn't work out it will be used in my house so I may just end up going for a traditional heater soon enough. Plenty of people do use these in campers though so I am no ground breaker!

  17. It's not the 1st of April is it ! :confused::confused::confused:. surely there must be a by-product.

  18. No dangerous fumes

Unlike burning wood, the ethanol fireplace doesn’t emit any dangerous fumes when burning. That’s actually the reason it doesn’t need a chimney – the fuel is so clean that the final product of the flame is a very small amount of water and carbon dioxide (and don’t be afraid, you won’t get wet walls or suffocate, see the Con about oxygen for more info).

The 'con' is to ventilate every now and again for oxygen.

  19. It does say you need open vent , people have gas cookers soo .............

    So apart from it being:
Massive, Potentially deadly and Visually challenged; it’ll also introduce moisture.
    Win win!
