I must be getting old, because that's what I thought of Billy Eyelash shortly before switching channels. I think I listened to 3 or 4 songs, but it could equally be one or ten

  6. Armchair Glastonbury critics make me laugh! Was looking at the reports of the outrage that Macca's set screening was delayed by an hour!!!! really!! How inconvenient!

The experience of Glastonbury and for that matter any other festival or indeed live concert beamed into your front room where you can pause it, have a comfort break and snack to you hearts content sat in your grundy's whilst stroking the cat isnt like being there! If you've been to any festival or live music venue you will know its about the experience almost as much as the presentation of the act. for example I was at Spike Island ... the sound was rubbish and it wasn't the best gig they ever did but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

At a festival you go to see bands you wouldn't normally see and if your unimpressed you move on. BBC have treated us to some fantastic insights into Glastonbury .. its not a presentation of everything that's happened, its not premier league football where you can watch every minute of every game (for a significant premium) and its more or less free (or chucked in with your licence). Some artists may not be at their best but they aren't the only ones there. If you were unimpressed at their set than as I say you'd move on. No ones forcing you to watch. Its fair to comment that someone wasn't at their best I suppose but if you've never really listened to live music well here's a a shock. it doesn't always sound quite like it does on your gramophone!

Yes, when I see a band live I don’t want a note for note reproduction of the record, I want the odd bum note, I want it a bit rough round the edges.

I agree and disagree in equal measure tbh…

Like pretty much everyone in the world ever, I have been to more than my fair share of festivals and gigs, as both a consumer, and a performer (lol), so I am well aware of the enjoyment of bass thudding through your loins, while you intoxicate yourselves with your drug of choice :chewie:

However, just because I now prefer to lay on the sofa, scratching my nads, while consuming music, doesn’t mean I have to turn a blind eye (or should that be ear?) to Marmitee singing, ******* poor sound quality, and general cringeness from the likes of macca and Diana Ross, be they legends or not.

    As you where.

  16. Having been there I know the “sound” is different in person. But several times this year I thought the BBCs engineering was poor. God knows where they were taking their broadcast feed from, but the lead mics were completely drowned out by the instruments on a number of occasions, vocals were reduced to a mumbled mess whilst the backing music was crystal clear.

The best sound quality was actually when they were using their own set up with the back stage acoustic performances.
