Gear selector? Which one

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Monkeytosh, Jul 25, 2012.

  1. Now my gear problems have been solved I'd like to get a new gear selector but not sure which one?

I've got a empi at the moment but it not that good.

    What's everybody else got fitted.

  2. Intrested to see the answers to this thread, I've been looking at the the Scat but replacing the T handle with a ball as i dont really want a T handle (I cant quite run to a Gene Berg) currently using the stock one with a quick shift plate and thats not too bad.

  3. No doubt,,csp or bugtech

  6. If I was to get one myself I would go for a bugtech one

  7. Nedfaux on here tried out the Bugtech one a while back and liked it, It may be worth the extra £££

Googleing the bugtech also pulls up positive things like 'even makes the berg feel sloppy'

  8. The bugtech sticks look sweet, If I had the spare dough thats the way I would go.

  9. I've got a Berg T handle... best shifter I've ever had the pleasure of using!!

  10. Cheers for the input, looks like bugtech is a popular choice

Put the proper one on and mend your gearbox/linkage. Works a treat. :)

I was going with Bugtech - Nedfaux on here is extremely friendly and the shifter looks cool as - however my brother was buying a Berg for his Beetle and it worked out cheaper to get them both imported from Gene Berg in the states.

Mine took around 3 weeks, cost around £215 (paid through paypal so its no big issue) and then an extra £50 for import tax.

I have T handle - mine does get in the way of the handbrake and as Zed says, unless the rest of the linkage is in good nick its not worth doing - I do need fettle time with mine and a good tip I had was check the free play on the clutch pedal is in tolerance (i.e. the cable hasn't stretched and knackered the cluthes ability to full disengage).

The shift with the Berg are very precise and it feels solid compared to the old puddin stirer.
